Shindaiwa 78890-30000 Speed-Feed 400 Universal Bump Feed Trimmer Head

This was so good, I ordered one for my brother in law for his birthday. I use to own a landscaping company many years ago, and swear we spent half the day fighting with trimmer line. Now I just have a Honda 4-stroke brush cutter / trimmer for my 1 acre property. The head fit on without needing any of adapters (and there was a lot of them). One bounce seems sufficient to get the line fully out. No need to beat your trimmer to death for an inch of line. Considering the price of regular heads, this is very worth the money.

I purchased this trimmer head after seeing reviews touting its ease of use and adaptability. Loading the line is simple and straightforward. Plenty of how-to videos on fitting the head to multiple brands of trimmers. I swapped the head in about ten minutes on a Honda trimmer with no problems. The head works flawlessly after a summer and half of use, advancing the line with a simple bump without any tangling or aggravation. Even the line include with the head is very good. I wish I had found this head years ago and saved myself the years of frustration loading line of the OEM head.

I haven't tried loading new string yet since it came pre-loaded. It was easy to install on my Greenworks 40V 14" trimmer (model 2100202). Stuck a screwdriver in the hole in the side of the old head. Turned it clockwise (reverse thread). The old one screwed off. Then screwed on the new one. I didn't need any of the adapters that came in the kit.

I have ordered three of these over the past year and they are really good products. HOWEVER when this one arrived today it did not have the correct adapter for my STIHL. I sent a message to SDR and they messaged back and refused to send the adapter that was supposed to come with the product in the first place. SDR said to contact Amazon and Amazon would send it to me. To my knowledge Amazon doesn’t make this product- they just sell it. I don’t want to return it- I want the correct adapter like it is supposed to come with. Not sure where to go from here.

This Shindaiwa 78890-30000 Speed-Feed 400 Universal Bump Feed Trimmer Head replaced my Ryobi EXPAND IT. I used the Red Anodized adapter on the threaded shaft that you get down to once you take off the Ryobi head.. NOTE: the thread is left handed..... so remember that after aligning the half slot on the base of the shaft where the along with the other half of a slot which is on the string trimmer part and inserting the locking tool that comes with it ( but in my case I used an allen wrench that was a sufficient size cause I lost the tool) this locks the head then you can turn the old Junky Ryobi Head off by twisting to the right because it is left handed thread... On mine I used the red bushing... Also I went through that blue trim line that came with it like in 5 seconds I am currently using this line. MaxPower 338814 0.095-Inch Premium Twisted Trimmer Line, 200-Foot Length... Its a good cheap line so I hear and it did already outlast the blue on that came with the shindaiwa universal head... The reason why I cheanged the head in the first place was because the Ryobi was brand new and already it did not want to come apart for the first string change.. So that's why I stated surfing and came across this Schindaiwa universal string feed one... time will tell if I made the right decision but I like it so far ( at least you can services it easily as compared to the Ryobi head) and at least it fits on the Ryobi expand it weed trimmer and replaces it.... I will be back to update to 5 stars if It stands the test of time and is super easy to string up with my chosen string trimmer line.

I can’t believe I spent all those weekends wrapping and re-wrapping the spindle only to watch it undo as I tried to reinstall it. I have a Stihl Kombi system, and I use this for my straight FS KM trimmer. I use the green adapter and the spacer and it went on like a champ. With the spacer, the cutter was still in play and the bump feed worked well. A great value for the money as compared to the Echo product, which is apparently exactly the same. Highly recommend based on the fit, ease of assembly, and the time saving capability this device provides.

Instructions on how to adapt unit to fit your trimmer not the clearest, but the unit was flawless in loading & operation. A real pleasure to use, & I don't waste time cutting strings & I use a lot less string. Trimming a small .7 acre fenced lot in the city.Recommended by "Chicanic" & she was spot on with her best choice. Great value, design, quality & a pleasure to use. Had 4 different heads & this is a keeper.

I’m very impressed with my Speed Feed Trimmer Head. It fit perfectly on my Craftsman without requiring one if the enclosed adapters. I particularly like the fact that I can load 20 feet of trimmer line in less than a minute. It sure beats the old spool method. I’ll never go back.Bill C.
