Waste of time and money.
Do not buy this horrible product! I've watched the videos. I've read all the reviews to learn from the mistakes of others. I followed the instructions to the tee. And still, I have had no success. I put the sheets down, I weighed them down with bricks because even the slightest breeze blows them away. I watered to keep them moist without drowning them as it shows in the video. But they just disintegrated, tore where they were weighted down, and blew away. Upon retrieving the pieces, I found they were too disintegrated to replace on the ground. I bought two 100-ft rolls and I feel cheated.

product performed better then expected!
Grotrax was very easy to use...but it is going to require you to work a little. Before you start read the directions on the back of the label (you are going to have to open the roll to get to these. Prepare your soil! soak it down overnight as directed. Lay your mats....I found they cut much easier with scissors then a blade..... Water well 2 or 3 times a day! You just can't lay the mats down and expect grass. Living in Central Texas on the rocky escarpment I could only get about an inch or so of loose soil but it seems to be enough. I spotted grass sprouting this morning lots of grass. it's been 5 days since I laid the mats. Now it is on me to keep it moist as directed. Highly recommend as a cheaper alternative to sod... if you can and are willing to wait a few weeks. I have now used this product 3 times. Two of the three have been highly successful. I have a very shaded front yard full of grass instead of mud! the third has been down only two days but I can't see why they won't grow also. I used them to cover some still bare edges and a few isolated bare spots. It has all been quick and easy. I have one more spot to fix near the driveway but have to correct a drainage problem first. Those who lack success, maybe it's a low spot that collects water drowning the seeds. I don't know but I have had no trouble. My neighbor bought some after looking at my yard and walking the dog the other day past his house I noticed he has grass growing in the places he patched with Grotrax. Pic 3 when I laid Grotrax pic 2 after 3 weeks pic 3 now after 8 weeks

3 of 4 worked
3 of the four rolls worked very well. One roll did nothing. It was in the same area, soil was prepared in same manner and it was watered the same.

Worked in some areas, not in others
While this didn't turn out to be the perfect solution for me (I reduced the size of my garden bed and had a strip of bare dirt that was 2' x 50', where the grass did fill in, it did very nicely. I don't know if it was me not prepping the ground properly, not keeping it watered enough, or what happened. So while it may not be a perfect solution, it did solve half my problem and blended in perfectly with the rest of my lawn.

It works!
I watched a youtube video by a guy who claimed it didn't work for patches in his lawn. The reason was that he didn't bother to read the instructions. He just laid the growtrax mat on the ground without preparing the soil. The mat must make contact with the soil in order to grow. I prepared mine with a steel rake, watered the soil and then laid the mat down and sprinkled it. Of course, water it 2-3 times a day to get it established. Within two weeks it was growing well and now, five weeks later it's full-on grass! I'm a man but I know enough to read the instructions if you expect the product to work. Thanks, Jim

Definitely grows grass for a while maybe
Added picture after 2 weeks. Sporadic! We used both the 2ft roles & 1ft roles. The 2ft seems to work better than the 1ft also could be different batch runs. In the pics you can see the lighter & less sprouted 1ft role at one end and in a few spots where we had tears & wind blown pieces that stuck together. Don't do if there's thhe slightest breeze without staking they're very hard to reposition when even a little wet it falls apart, holes in role shown. We preped ground with BlackCow 50/50 fertilizer & also with fresh top soil prior to laying out Growtex. Some of it is great and on other areas it looks anemic so only 3 stars currently. Still have another 2ft & 1.5 1ft roles to play with so gonna do a test in another area against HydroGrass that you spray on as opposed to a role just for kicks. Stay tuned.7weeks later we added 3 more pics of it dieing almost 1/2 of the area laid out. It either was stunted growth or it grew and died see brown spots in added pics. Also seems to be a delicate strain of grass when compared to my existing centipede type very thin blades.

Not for windy areas
Parts of this blew into neighbors yards and what remained shredded with the first storm we got. Not sure how to return this but I wish I could.
