Installing the software turns into a research project. BoxLight customer service is not helpful at all, as they seem to copy/paste a template response, where they are basically trying to fish for ways to blame the problem on anyone but themselves. I have tried to install all three versions of their software, Linux, Mac, and Windows, all of which were incredibly difficult and time consuming to do. I did wind up finding a solution to the problems I was having installing it on Linux, but no thanks to BoxLight- the solution is actually years old. I found the solution on a several-years-old forum post, where another teacher figured out the solution themselves. The solution is not even on the BoxLight website's installation instructions. The solution involves adding the Ubuntu user to the group who has permission to open the software- seems like a pretty basic thing that they could easily fix, if they really cared about the users' experience with their software.They are also stuck in the 90's, with 32-bit software being their only product. Mac doesnt jive well with that.I managed to get the software installed on Mac and Ubuntu, but still cannot get it to work on Windows. I use all three operating systems, and it would be great if the software worked on all three.

Use it from almost 7years in 6 classrooms in our school and we never had problems with software or hardware. Really easy to install, setup and configuration in just few minutes. The mimio notebook software was easy to download from the website and also tells ypu if an upgrade is available. A real great solition to make classes more attractive and fun for students at a fraction of the cost of more sofisticated and expensive hardware that no every school is able to afford. Very happy with Mimio.
