Q: How long is the USB car charger

The length of the car adapter included in DP100 package is about 11 feet long.

Q: How long is the loop recording. Will the power cord plug into a usb. Is the cord like the cell phone charger connections?

With a 16GB Micro SD card (included) it will record 240 minutes at 1080 HD video. That's 6 hours. Then it begins to loop back over itself. I set my camera to record in 3 minute files. So when you download the files off the SD card, you will have a bunch of 3 minute videos. This allows you to search for a specific time and place without opening up a HUGE single file. Also, allows you to send the video via emails (smaller file size) to your friends, Facebook, YouTube....or your lawyer!

Q: Does this (or any) dashcam record with the sound off?

As far I know it does record only image. There is a menu entry where you can shut sound off. It comes on by default and I never shut it off. I do think recording sounds before an event is useful but is only my opinion.

Q: Would this give a semi-decent picture if it were on the middle of a pickup's back windshield?

It should, but with the wide angle lens some inside of the cab will be in view. Mine records a good picture, but attached to the front windshield behind the mirror with the adhesive strip.
