There are several levels of making stuff. Level one, just get it built, level two get it built and looking nice and finally level three attempt perfection. We could probably argue whether this is a level two or three tool, but from my personal perspective, the people arguing it is a level two tool are those experienced perfectionists and those saying it is a level three are still mastering their craft.When you look at screwing to boards together, there are clearly times when no countersink is needed, when any countersink will do and finally when the counter sink can be adjusted perfectly in terms of both drill depth and countersink depth. If you are in need of the latter, this is the set up for you. This has changed the way I work for sure. While many times it may seem unnecessary, it can make all the difference in the world visually. If you plan to plug your holes, it definitely makes life easier, but you control every aspect of the hole - a major step up from other counter sink products (like the snappy drill bit products available on Amazon). The tool that comes with this bit is almost worth the price of the bit. The Allen wrench has two sizes on it and fits many woodworking tools.I also have the brass version of this, but find myself using this version more often. It has never marred the board, and is truly friction free. If you are already taking time to layout your attachment to be symmetrical, aligned, or patterned then you are probably going to love this…if you are still in those fun days when you are just excited about things holding together, then this it is probably premature to get this now. I do know this, I have put all my other counter sink bits in a case that has not been opened since I bought these.

I was helping a friend build a airplane. He had a adjustable counter sink bit for metal. I mostly work with wood for my personal projects and wanted one for wood. I found this and wanted to try it out. I love it! The depth is adjustable, it cuts clean, and the stop base is very stable. Would defiantly recommend this product of people that are tired of buying countersink bits with one depth and drill bits that break from their local hardware store.

Have gone through many "collars" for depth stops, etc. Gave up on them with last project and decided to give these a try. YES, they are relatively expensive, but they WORK and are easy to use. Was so tired of many other brands of depth collars and/or countersink bits that you have to fuss with and are "makeshift" at best. This one seems to work really well, easy to adjust the depth and the depth of the countersink.Save a few bucks up to get one or two of these; and, save a LOT of frustration from using the depth collars.Gave the durability and longevity only 4 stars because haven't had these very long. Did see some reports of these having a minor issue or two in that department, but so far, see no reason these should have any issue. Seem very well made.

Nice tool and appears to be top quality. Depth control was very easy to set and stayed set. Durability was marked as a 3 out of 5 only because I just started using this tool and cannot actually rate it in this field. I believe it will last many years based on the quality I see in this product.

This is my first depth stop countersink. Used to just eyeball the hole but its really nice to not have to think about it when youre drilling lots of holes. The stop leaves a little mark in soft pine so that sucks a little but ill be sanding anyway so no worries
