A perfect end to our feeding journey
I love this book, so much. I've been reading it every night for the last month with my almost 2 year old, and tonight we had our final feed, then took our 'magic balloon' outside to send back up to the booby moon.I've been so anxious about weaning but the experience we've had with reading the book, and then releasing our balloon tonight, has been so incredibly positive and beautiful. The story itself is lovely, we just skipped the page about the birthday party as it didn't fit our plans. My little boy has been saying "magic fly" and "bye bye booby milk" for the last couple of weeks, and tonight he was an absolute star, he let go of the balloon himself, waved it off and was so pleased with the whole adventure. One thing to note is that if you're planning to wean in the middle of summer, you will need to adjust bedtime a bit to make sure a) it's actually dark and b) the moon is actually visibly in the sky. Turns out it's not up there every night, as I'd always assumed! But with a bit of forward planning it worked out well.I had also debated about releasing a balloon at all (because of the environmental factor) but decided that one balloon is not unreasonable, and it was important for us that the experience matched the pictures in the book.I'll be recommending this book to any friends looking to wean their toddlers in the future.

A lovely gentle way to wean your toddler
I love this book so much, as does my 2.5 year old who has just weaned. It was super helpful when we night weaned last year too as it has a bit about booby being asleep at night and cuddling back to sleep instead of having milk. The ritual of letting go of the balloon was lovely - my daughter got really excited when she saw it. She had decided it was time to send the milk back up to Booby Moon and was excited to let the balloon go, and even though she was sad when we let it go, re-reading the book was a really helpful way to remind her why we’re doing it and help her process what had happened. This was a few nights ago and tonight she said she missed boob milk and wanted to read Booby Moon again. There is also a really helpful bit at the back with advice for parents on weaning. I highly recommend this book to anyone thinking about weaning or night weaning their toddler.

Worked a treat!
I wanted to stop feeding when our little girl reached 2 but it felt she was so dependent on Mummy’s milky, particularly for sleep, that we’d never move her away without causing lots of upset. I’d heard about this book and thought it was worth a go. We read it most days for 2 months leading up to her second birthday, making sure to liken her to the older children on the pages and talking about it through the day too. We are now 3 days passed her birthday with no milky and she’s only asked twice and been satisfied that Mummy’s milky magic has returned to the moon. Thank you so much!

Lovely really helped
Was overly keen on some of the wording, however each to their own. I changed the parts I didn't like. This is such a lovely book. The pic of the little girl smiling melts my heart every time. I can honestly say this has changed our lives. My co sleeper is now being put to sleep with no crying and will wait till I allow her to have boob. I will adapt wording of the story again when it's time to say goodbye forever but for now baby just has boob when the sun comes up and although she still wakes looking for it in the night settling her is a dream. Thanks so much

Lovely way to celebrate a milestone achievement.
I used this book to fully wean my boob obsessed child. With the help of Milkies when the sun shines we'd stopped feeding at night, but the morning and bedtime feeds just kept going. This book has such a lovely message, is gentle and my child really got behind the message. We read the book many times over many months before actually stopping, which helped my child to process the change that was coming. We didn't release a balloon, but instead had bubbles and glow sticks in the garden under a big winter moon. It was really special. Thanks for helping to make this moment a celebration of all we achieved on our breastfeeding journey. From a tiny 34 week preemie, to a strapping 3 year old, it's been a ride :-).
