Unlike cheaper no-name units, this baby rocks. Never needs to be re-set, never fails.I take the HDMI from my STB, strip all the audio out, then embed back in the center-channel-only extracted from the Dolby 5.1 SPDIF Optical-Out offered by the STB, feeding the full SPDIF as well to my AV receiver to power front and rear speakers plus sub (and just ignoring the receiver's center channel). This lets me use the TV's soundbar (nicely mounted right in the TV at the bottom of the bezel as shipped by the factory) as my center channel! Why don't more people do this? 'Cause you need to de-embed then re-embed, and with this product now you can!The TV is wall-mounted, the front L+R speakers are floor standers ... no media console so there was no place for a center channel speaker (and it would have been ugly anyway).TV's should have an option to play only the center channel thru the TV's built-in speakers when the receive Dolby 5.1 on the HDMI ... but until they do, this unit solves the issue, all gear hidden behind the STB in another room (I have HDMI in the walls), with its RF remote. More and more TV shows are broadcast in Dolby 5.1, as are all the on-demand cable-provider movies and streaming services.
