Stopped working right after return window closed
Stopped working in less than a month. Right after the return window closed. Sheer waste of money for such an expensive product. One star because there is no option for zero.

Budget analog tuning with great AM reception.
Coming it at $12, this Kaito radio is a winner! Analog tuning with great AM reception.Search my name and the radio's model number on youtube for a full, in-depth video review.Features I like about this radio:* AM reception is Krazy good!* Compact design.* Analog tuner.* Headphones are pleasing to use on the AM band. Fantastic.* Soft touch enclosure. Yeah, I like it :)* Low profile belt clip. So I don't have to take it off :)* Runs on two AAs, giving it more run time.Features that could be added or improved on:* FM reception. Needs a longer antenna.* Larger numbers on the dial. They are pretty small.Overall a great little radio for its low price tag. I recommend this radio as a solid buy for the AM pocket radio enthusiast. A new favorite for me.

Decent radio for local stations
This radio looks nice, with a sleek and modern shape, and works well enough for local and semi-local stations. But I ordered two and neither is very sensitive on either AM or FM, so they do not receive the more distant stations. Sound quality is fine for a radio this size. DSP chip makes tuning somewhat fussy (you have to move the thumbwheel slowly to catch all available signals), but DSP chips are becoming nearly universal on these pocket radios and these DSP tuning characteristics are found on any radio with an analog tuner paired with DSP chip.If you are looking for a low-priced small radio with better performance in receiving weaker, distant stations, consider the QFX R-39 or the very similar Supersonic SC-1080BT. Both are about the same size and price as this Kaito yet offer better reception plus shortwave, MP3 playing via USB drive or Micro SD, and your choice of Bluetooth on the Supersonic or a flashlight on the QFX. For a pocket radio without a DSP chip, look at the Sony ICF-P26.But, again, this Kaito KA230 may suit your needs perfectly if you are looking for a radio that’s going to work fine for receiving stronger, nearby stations.

I think this is a great little radio for only $12.
I received my new Kaito KA230 yesterday. I really like the little radio. Come to think about it, I haven't had a pocket-style AM/FM radio for several decades! 😳 It takes me back with some pleasant memories. I'm listening to the Astros vs. the Giants on KBME 790 AM (Houston) as I type this. It's fun to listen to a baseball game on a little AM radio. There's something nostalgic about it. And heck, I'm not even a sports fan!! 😲😊 There's just something special about listening to a baseball game on a little AM radio. 👍I think this is a great little radio for only $12. I'm very pleased with it.
