Easy to Use, Good Value
Used this to update the firmware on my Anet A8, and it worked perfectly. The included cable and adapter made the process smooth and straightforward. Great tool for the job!

Outperforms the more expensive units - Inexpensive and dependable
I have used this unit consistently for several months and flashed several hundred megaprocessors using this unit and the free AVRDUDESS software. I originally purchased the unit as a backup to a unit that cost over a hundred dollars, but that unit fails to recognize the chips 9/10 times; this little inexpensive unit works flawlessly EVERY TIME!The unit is small and takes up very little space, many times I leave it connected to the USB port on the PC for quick access.

NOT USABLE WITHOUT PURCHASING A 2ND DEVICE
Does not work without a firmware update. Guess what you need to update the firmware, yes another usbasp. I do not recommend a seller that doesn't even update a simple firmware so their customers can actually use the item they purchased without having to purchasing another whole item.

Burn Ender 3 Firmware on stock board without a bootloader
The Ender 3 has an 8 bit board and burning a bootloader takes up space that you can use to turn on features that you might want to use. With the USBasp, you can connect it to your board and burn the firmware directly onto it and save that precious space. If you are the type of person that wants to experiment with features and trying different firmware, then this is not for you. You would need to connect this to your printer and computer each time you want to upload new firmware. However, if you don't intend on altering your firmware, then this is a "set it and forget" type of solution and it is cheaper than an Arduino Uno.An important note to mention is that using the programmer on a Mac, you do not need to set a USB port. Your Mac should recognize the device natively. You CAN NOT use the upload button in Arduino, it will fail to upload. You need to go to the menu and select "Upload using programmer".If you place the adapter board onto the IO pins of the Ender 3 board, you need to face it so the hole for the provided ribbon cable is facing in toward the board and away from the front edge of the board. This lines up the pins correctly.Lastly, you should still have the printer powered on.

Outdated Firmware is Surprising
The most recent USBasp firmware was released in May of 2011. Nearly 13 years ago as I write this review. Somehow this device ships with a firmware even older than that, so you first have to find another programmer to reprogram this programmer before you can program anything made in the last decade. At least it actually has the J2 header already soldered on so you're one small step closer to a working device.

Works!
Used this to program an ATMega 328 in circuit, and worked perfectly with AVRDudess software. Pin out matched without having to make an adapter.
