Delicious and sweetens baking and teas like a pro
We use this product for baking and for sweetening pretty much everything that calls for a sweetener. If you want to make something like fudge or frosting and have a spare or clean blade-type coffee grinder, run it through the grinder to powder the erythritol and you'll be set. Otherwise, get the Swerve confectioners' sweetener. It makes a great replacement for saccharine and other artificial sweeteners (word of caution for diabetics - make sure you monitor your blood glucose when trying alternative sweeteners. Just because it doesn't have the 'ose's like sucrose or fructose, doesn't mean your blood sugar will stay where it should). I will admit I find it a tiny bit weird-tasting in coffee, but don't let that stop you from trying it in your own. If you're the type that gets asked "do you want some coffee with that sugar?", this might be a good alternative to help recoup the benefits of coffee that are robbed by using table sugar. When you consider the amount of sugar that goes into a pitcher of tea or lemonade (even Kool-aid for that matter) and the resulting calorie content, this product makes for a great way to seriously cut back on sugar. Just be willing to experiment a bit with your recipes because once you get the hang of it and can start cutting out sugar consumption, you'll go a long way toward reducing inflammation and other health issues associated with sugar consumption.

I Have A New Favorite!
I have tried several forms of natural sweeteners over the years in order to limit my sugar intake. Some of those formulas have been found to be less than beneficial, some of them might be dangerous, and several provide an unacceptable taste and/or texture. While Stevia products are the best so far, I have come across both good and bad mixtures. Some are powdered and hard to work with, some become bitter if you use too much at one time, and some of them lose their potency (sugary taste) the longer you store them. This Pyure Organic All-Purpose Stevia Sweetener has a taste and texture that closely mimics natural sugar. You can prove it to yourself by setting up a simple test. Put two small plates on your counter with a small amount of sugar on one and an equal amount of Pyure Stevia on the other. Have a family member close their eyes, lick their left pointer finger, and place it on one of the samples. Then have them do the same using their right pointer finger on the other sample. Have them taste both and ask them which is the Pyure Stevia. I would be very surprised if they can tell a difference. This Pyure formula is gluten free, has zero calories, has only 2 grams of carbs per serving, and is certified ORGANIC. You don't need to use much as 1 tsp of Pyure is equivalent to 2 tsp of sugar. It is also one of the more reasonable costing formulas of Stevia. If you are diabetic (or pre-diabetic) you will find this a great substitute for sugar.

Sugar Jury is Still Out... Update, it's IN
-- Update #3 While I like the product itβs one of those that Iβll wait for it to be on βsaleβ before buying it. When itβs an βAdd-Onβ purchase itβs 6.98 (at the time Iβm writing this). Interestingly thatβs the same online price from wally world so maybe thatβs an incentive for Amazon to continue to keep the price down. Either way, itβs considerably better than the $12.60 cost on Pyureβs website for the single 16 oz. bag. -- Update #2 Just went to buy this again and the price jumped from 6.98 to 8.90 (one time purchase). That is a price increase of more than 21% in 30 days. I knew prices would go up over time as Stevia products become more mainstream but a price hike of 21% in a month makes no sense. Maybe the seller thought no one notice? --- Update #1 Okay - After a month of use (and using it very sparingly) I have to say that as long as they don't change anything (i.e. add fillers, become non-organic, etc.) this will be my go to sugar substitute. I've tested it as a sweetener replacement in some baked good and it's worked well. This won't replace the plain stevia I use in coffee and hot tea. For me, 1/4 tspn of stevia is equivalent in sweetness as 4 teaspoons of the blend in a 16 oz cup of coffee. I also add a 1/2 teaspoon of stevia to sweeten a gallon of a very slightly stevia sweetened drink mix. Since I use stevia primarily in drinks a 1lb bag lasts me up to 3 months and I've got no problems with the taste. Oh yeah, I also mix a 5:1 ratio of cinnamon to stevia for things like cinnamon toast or shaking it over waffles. I did try that with the blend but it didn't mix well (kind of crunchy). Not surprisingly, it does not dissolve as quickly in cold drinks as it does in hot drinks. Also, I made some freezer fudge and used this as a sweetener and while it was good fudge it was a bit crunchy because the crystals did not break down due the low moisture content of the ingredients (chocolate chips, peanut butter, cocoa, etc.). Cold tea is the best (in my opinion) test of dissolvability but for some reason I haven't made any lately. Guess that will be my next test. It was great in the Black Bean Fudge and chocolate chip cookies that I baked and I make oatmeal smoothies with a Ninja blender and I use cold Cashew milk and it blended well. I think in items such as baked goods, heated homemade fudge, or used in a homemade coffee creamer (cocoa, cashew milk, sweetener) this makes them taste much more like the store bought versions. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Original Review I'm still trying to decide if I like this or not. I've been using stevia for almost 10 years but there are things you just can't do (easily) with stevia (i.e. baking). Plus, my taste buds have gotten too used to stevia and I've gone from 1/16 tsp in a cup of coffee to 1/4 tsp. Otherwise, I can't taste it. I discovered on my own that if I mixed a small amount of brown sugar (i.e.1 tsp) with 1/8 tsp of stevia that the sweetening power of both seemed to come through better. But, I didn't really want to use sugar so I started reading what other "blends" were out there and which were the least demonized (because no matter what sweetener it is, someone is going to come up with βalternativeβ evidence and rant about how bad it is). The stevia and erythritol blend seemed to be the most accepted although not 100%. Erythritol does come out on top for having the least potential side effects. But, I guess I won't know unless I do something like grow a tail and suddenly can breathe underwater. One thing about the taste is, at least to my taste buds, I'll never confuse it with real sugar. One review I'd read about erythritol said that it had a "cooling" effect. Kind of like spearmint gum but much milder. My oddball taste buds seem to interpret it as a very light vanilla flavor. That's not a bad thing since I frequently put cinnamon and/or vanilla in my coffee. I'll go through this a lot faster than using plain stevia since the blend isn't as sweet and it takes more of it to sweeten things. More along the lines of sugar although a bit less. But I've got some plans to try it in some baked goods and if it works out it will be worth it.

Really tastes like sugar!
I am amazed at how good this tastes, really! I have tried so many sugar substitutes over the years and I have not liked or just tolerated most of them. This one is really tasty. So far I have used it to sweeten iced coffee, hot herbal tea, iced tea and oatmeal. Those are the things I bought it with the intention of using it for; I probably will find other things I will use it for. I don't have plans to use it for baking. I rarely bake, and I would just continue to use sugar for the little bit of baking I do. I like that this is a granulated product, that is what I wanted to try this time, rather than those little packets. I don't find an aftertaste at all. Be sure to read the label. This is not an equal measure to sugar, so if you do not adjust your usage, you will probably not like it. I add, taste, and add more if needed. It didn't take long to figure out how much to use to get the sweetness I like. I really like my iced coffee, tea and oatmeal quite sweet, so I use too much sugar. The calories really add up to a ridiculous amount. This will really help, especially since the taste is so good I won't mind using it. I'm so glad I tried this brand. I don't really mind the price, since you use less than regular sugar, so the bag will last longer than it looks.

PURE DELISHIOUSNESS!
When I opened the bag, I caught the most lovely, wonderful fragrance, like cotton candy perhaps. I think I call it a "fragrance" rather than a "smell" is because I have a bottle of a fragrance oil called Dreams (do you remember when the biggest thing was to go to these small gift/specialty stores where they had a small rack with about 30 different scented oils and they would mix it with different unscented mediums such as lotion or conditioner, or you could simply buy it by the bottle?). Anyway, Dreams smelled like sweet, like... okay, you get my point! PYURE not only smells Dreamy, but it tastes SO Wonderful! I think it tastes better than sugar, and way better than any other Stevia Blend I've had... Truvia and Sweetleaf are the two that I've had, so granted I've not had tons, but Now I Don't Need To! I was reluctant to try a straight Stevia because of the aftertaste, which I have experienced from time to time, especially because I like my coffee Really strong so there's that bit of bitterness I may get. But With Pyure, There is No aftertaste at all! I buy plain yogurt and do the flavoring myself with, of course, Pyure, and maybe some Wild Foods Organic Vanilla Bean Powder and some Frontier Vietnamese Organic Cinnamon, Viva Labs Organic Cacao Powder & Island Fresh Organic Coconut Oil... OMG, IT IS SO DELICTABLELY DELICIOUS & SOOO LOW IN CALORIES!! I will be using Pyure in my Chocolate, Chocolate Chip, Coconut Cookies made with Almond Flour... I'd send you some, but most likely I will eat them all before you even have a chance to ask! One comparison I would like to make, also, is Monk Fruit Sweetener: Pyure is supposed to be double the sweetness of sugar, while Monk Fruit says it's 1 to 1. MY palette says the opposite. Hm. Well, I have always been somewhat... unique? Luckily I bought 1 bag of each (& Pyure was about $5 less), and when it really comes right down to it (at this point), it Only Matters What I Like! However, I will taste as I make & bake, and for a truer reference I will have a few friends taste them for their opinion. So, until Then... Sweeten Away And The Same You Will Weigh!

This Is My Favorite Sugar Substitute
It doesn't affect blood glucose levels. This is the one product that my palate can't tell the difference from normal sugars. It looks and pours like granulated sugar. It has a pleasant vanilla like scent. My experience is the amount I use is equivalent to table sugar for sweetening. It just seems to hit my palate in the same way table sugar does without any bitterness, sharp sweetness, or lingering thin, sweet after taste on the roof of my mouth like other substitutes. Note: I have edited this to include the following additional information. My experience with Stevia sweeteners is there seems to be a short, intense sweetness that is different than what I would expect as an equivalent sweetness profile to sugar. I am not saying it is a bad thing. But it does take away from enjoying the food when I am distracted by the different sweetness profile. (I have tried the Pyure liquid squirt product for convenience and it works OK in my coffee at work. But still a bit sharp and different than I like. The ingredients show basically water and Stevia. No Erythritol listed.) It seems like this granular Stevia and Erythritol blend does a great job of balancing the "sharp" sweetness of Stevia which is appprox 350x as sweet as sugar with the "dull" sweetness of Erythritol which is said to be about 70% as sweet as sugar. I seriously can't tell the difference between this sugar substitute and regular sugar.
