Bringing Back My Speaker From the Dead
A few weeks ago, one of my JBL LXE990 loudspeakers started making strange clicking sounds. When I removed the front grill, I discovered that the foam surround on its 10 inch woofer had completely disintegrated. What to do? I searched online for a suitable pair of replacement speakers, but could not find anything comparable with larg woofers. Apparently, speakers like this just aren't made anymore, because manufacturers have decided that small bookshelf speakers with a separate powered subwoofer are now the way to go. I did some more searching and came across this JBL sspeaker repair kit from Simply Speakers for $25. I ordered it from Amazon, and it was delivered by USPS just three days later. The box contained two rubber woofer surrounds, one for each woofer in the pair, plus a tube of special adhesive to glue them onto the woofer cones. The online instructions, available on the Simply Speakers web site recommends removing the woofer from the cabinet before starting the repair job, but this isn't really necessary to get good results. I just laid the speaker cabinet flat on the floor face up with the drivers exposed. First I carefully removed the gasket from the woofer frame and scraped away traces of leftover foam using a screwdriver and some cotton puffs doused in rubbing alcohol. I applied a thin bead of glue to the circumference of the woofer cone and attached the inner lip of the surround, making certain that it was centered properly. I then pressed all around the lip to make sure that it adhered securely to the woofer cone and let it dry for an hour. Then I glued the outer lip of the surround to the woofer frame and let it dry for another hour. Finally, I glued the gasket back over the outer lip of the surround and let it dry for yet another hour. When I reconnected the speaker to my receiver, I was amazed to hear that it sounded as good as new. The bass was deep and powerful once again with no clicks or rattles. So for only $25, I rejuvenated my speaker and saved the cost of buying a new pair. And I have another surround on hand in case the surround on the other speaker's woofer rots away. If you have a JBL speaker whose woofer surround is showing signs of rot or deterioration, do yourself a favor, buy this repair kit and fix it yourself. You'll be able to enjoy your speaker again for many more years to come and save a bundle of money on new speakers. I'm not much of a do-it-yourselfer, so if I can do it, anyone can do it.

did the job.
Bought some JBL's from a friend whose wife no longer let him use the speakers. The surrounds had decayed at the bottom of both speakers. These replacements worked like a charm. They are of good quality and the glue was definitely a higher quality as well. Their website had plenty of videos just to make sure I was replacing correctly. After about 4 months the speakers still sound good as new and now belong to my son.

Groovin again with classic JBL’s.
I bought the 10” but had to exchange for the 9”. Same exact product, just smaller. I used this to repair JBL L96’s. OMG ! So happy. I havent used my speakers in 25+ years. Dug them out if the garage, repaired them and wow they sound great. Watched the Simply Speakers video and followed their directions. It’s a little tedious prepping the speakers. Getting off all the old gunk took a couple hours. I wanted to do it right! I was a little sloppy on the glue too. But, this foam repair works great! Love my speakers. Thank you for a wonderful product Simply Speakers. Great videos and customer service. BTW - Amazon would not accept my return because of shipping the glue (which doesnt make sense since it was shipped to me to begin with) but Simply Spkrs accepted the return directly and I bought the 9” from them directly because Amazon didn’t sell the 9”.

Effective Speaker Rehab
I used this kit to rehab a pair of older JBL speakers. The foam replacement was done in an afternoon and most of that time was taken for the adhesive to dry. The instructional video was very useful and the installation is fairly easy if you follow their procedure. The speakers sound like new. This is a very inexpensive and effective kit for giving your old speakers new life.

Outstanding value and installation assistance = happy customer!
When I took the face off my JBL speakers and the foam was disintegrating, I didn't know where to turn. But, found these products and am now very happy! The company puts videos online explaining the process, and makes installation very easy. The new inserts fit perfectly and sound great!
