Provides very detailed information.

Good review of places of intrest. More expensive places to stay then lonley planet

Letters are too small and lack of photos

Also, ich bin lonely Planet Fan und kaufe diese Reiseführer seit 25 Jahren ! Doch entdecke ich leider gerade bei Lonely Planet, dass sich die Informationen immer weniger an den Belangen der Backpacker orientieren. Daher kaufe ich in letzter Zeit vermehrt den Rough Guide. Auch für Sri Lanka ist der Rough Guide wesentlich besser für Backpacker geeignet als der Lonely Planet. Daher eine klare Kaufempfehlung für den ROUGH GUIDE !!!

Used this book in conjunction with an old copy of LP. Some of the maps are a little odd and the info seemed poorly researched. Dambulla caves for example was very confusing for the entrance and the map was not helpful. I used a few of the recommended hotels and they were good. The site explanation were good. Had an extremely good time in Sri Lanka and the Rough Guide book in part made this happen.
