Oxford Children's Dictionary

Bought for our daughter of 7. An excellent dictionary. Compact and light enough to easily pop into the school bag but with 30,000+ words and lots of extras and interesting facts it is perfect for the 7+ age group. Highly recommend

A beautiful little dictionary, love the illustrations/pictures, grandson 6 years old carries in his backpack everywhere! He reads well at 3rd grade level so has lots of words to look up

The book have illustrations to allow your child to guess the word before reading it, phonetic helping for pronunciation, hard cover. Writing used easily readable , colorful imagesNot to big not to small just the size for a elementary to middle school kid

This dictionary is a handy tool for kids, although we have come across some words we'd like to look up that aren't in here. This particular reader is in 4th grade, and it seems that the dictionary, as explained, would be nicer if it included these pretty basic 4th grade words. Other than that, it has a lot of plusses, including information about punctuation and grammar.

This book is so good!

I just assumed the next level up for kids was same size as the oxford first dictionary for children but this hardcover is about 2 inches shorter so it is like a mini-book. I wanted the upgrade because there simply wasn't that many words in the first dictionary. I compared the upgrade to merriam children book and thought this book with solid blue fonts on words was just easier on the eyes for my kid to look up words. I also felt Merriam dictionary look a bit technical in breakdown of syllables and all the different weird symbols was just too early for 6 year old to tackle so this dictionary appear to be more children friendly and has decent amount of words. So far my kid really likes it and it works well given his experience using oxford already.

Very nice for grade 3 however wasn't able to find some words in it!
