**Q: Does it inject power to the male or female end?**
A: The power is injected to the female end.

**Q: What is the 12V output power?**
A: The power output will depend on the power supply you use, as an example I connected A 300W PC power to to power up 8 cameras around my house without having to use the 2.5 amp power supply that you usually use to power up two cameras (AC/DC 12V power adapter).  I could have easily added many more cameras. so if you use a 100W power supply to connect these dongles, you have 100W source.....hope this helps.

**Q: i need male connectors only.  can i replace the female connectors with male connectors to receive "12v poe power" at the camera end?  (for ir lamp)**
A: You need a pair. One injects power into the cable and one brings it back out

**Q: I'm guessing "passive" = dc volts pass through the (on-board) ethernet circuitry without degradation or loss. yes / no?**
A: The DC power is "injected" at one end of the ethernet cable and "taken out" at the other end of the cable.  There is no onboard circuitry involved.  In other words the power does not encroach onto the ethernet circuitry on either end.  This style of passive injection is for non-PoE equipment.  If the equipment you're using can natively handle Power over Ethernet then you shouldn't need to use passive injection adapters.
