I tried the TreatLife dimmer switch, but it would not connect to the app. It worked at first (one use), and now is a brick. I didn't really want to attach yet another object to my wifi network and download yet another app from some unknown source.THIS however is what I wanted in the first place. But Amazon did not want to show it to me in my search. I had to find it first elsewhere and then search for it. The remote takes a battery, but the part outside is simple... Just plug it into the outdoor outlet, and plug the string of lights into it. The remote is simple, but really does the job!

The cord is short if u have a box near the ground and/or if your string lights don’t have a long enough end with no bulb, but remote has all the functions u need to dim lights perfectly and good timer options.

Finding a dimmer with sufficient wattage for two strings of incandescent lights is a challenge, and this controller is just enough for that. The reduced light output from the Harbor Freight string lights circling the pergola over our hot tub is perfect. The wireless remote control is nice to have so we don't have to get out of the tub to adjust the lighting, but we don't treat it as a waterproof remote; we're careful not to use it with soaking wet hands or drop it into the water.The only reasons I've given it 4 out of 5 stars is that it would be nice if it supported even more than 265 watts maximum, and also because twice now when our PG&E power has gone out, the controller turns the lights back on when power returns. I've resorted to keeping it unplugged from the wall until we plan to use the hot tub or illuminate the back yard because I don't want the lights being on and wasting electricity for however many hours before I notice they're on.

I had bought another dimmer but, I had to hook it to my Wi-Fi and, I didn’t want to do so. This dimmer is perfect to just plug it in & it works. I’m able to cut the brightness of the lights if my deck to 50%, if I want. I like this product very much & would buy again

We purchased to use with our string lights. It works great even though the controller is behind a chair. I love the dimming feature. We have had this for several months. We did have to change the remote battery once a couple of months later but other than that no issues. I reccomend for sure.

Remote control broke after about a month. The spring that is soldered to the circuit board broke off and cannot be resoldered.

I purchased two of these sets because we have two sets of string lights (in different section of our yard) that we wanted to be able to control and dim separately. I assumed that each remote would only be paired with each plug, but now either remote controls BOTH plugs, so I can't put only one set of lights on.Also, the remote that came with these is different that what is pictured. The pictures show a remote with colored buttons for each brightness level, and no timer buttons. But what arrived in the box has a different button configuration, with all black and white buttons (other than on/off) and includes four different buttons for timer settings.
