I took the exam within one month of purchasing the book and read it twice. It is more of a primer than a comprehensive guide to achieving a high score on the exam. It is well written and a great resource for the informatics professional who needs to expand their knowledge base. There are sample questions available that can complement the guide.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS if you need a robust study guide! VERY limited if you are a novice and need something comprehensive to prepare for CAHIMS. It's barely an inch thick with huge typeface, I felt quite swindled when I opened the delivery box up. It seems to be meant as a brief primer or a refresher for someone who already works in the field and wants to get oriented to what the CAHIMS exam will be focusing on. I am EXTREMELY displeased that I bought this from a third party seller and can't return it, because I would have done so in a heartbeat.

This book DOES NOT prepare you to take the exam at all. There were so many topics/questions that are not covered in this book. Now I have to pay another fee to re-take the exam...

I bought this guide directly from HIMSS. The knowledge gap between what this guide covers and what you are tested on in astounding. The CAHIMS is NOT and entry level test. If you use this book, get the CPHIMS Review Guide too and study both. Only with both will you have a fighting chance at passing the CAHIMS exam.

This book does NOT cover everything required for the exam. There is a HUGE gap between what is covered in this book and the questions on the exam. Certainly a good book to start your prep with, but you need to read A LOT MORE To even pass the exam. The exam had numerous questions on standards for various stuff which is not at all covered in this book. Unfortunately HIMSS does not offer any good study materials for the CAHIMS exam. You are pretty much on your own with the internet and other books.
