Product description This well known and marvelous Brain teaser puzzle contains 7 nonidentical wooden pieces and a box. Was Invented by a Danish mathmatician, Piet Hein in 1936. There are 240 different ways to build a solid cube. Arches , walls , plinths, towers, ships, etc. can also be created from the Soma Cube. Soma Cube addicts claim that after gaining some familiarity with the pieces, they speed up their solving enormously. The seven pieces that go into the Soma Cube represent all the ways in which three or four cubes can be arranged other than in a straight line. This is a great IQ brain teaser. Nice puzzle, lousy design.
This will do - but not particularly outstanding. The wood is reasonable quality, a bit rough in places. The reason for two stars is although it has fair 'puzzle value' the lid is quite a design flaw. The lid doesn't remain on the box independently and relies on balancing on the top level of the puzzle to remain on the top. Really annoying as it can be 'whacked off' with ease and does zero job of actually containing the completed puzzle in the box, should it tip over, or get knocked. Needs re-designing.
