VTS-989 Stun Gun for Self Defense Rechargeable with LED Flashlight

Taser sounds very powerful it's loud. Works great and the flashlight is useful I can imagine (haven't needed to use that.) Charged and bought this over a month ago and it's still ready to zap, battery hasn't drained or anything. Worth the purchase and relatively cheap. Edit; 5/17/2023; Taser still works great; I still have not needed to charge it since I bought it. I have used the flashlight on it many times it is very convenient. I also test the taser anytime I go for a late night walk, so I am very surprised that I have not needed to recharge the battery. I first bought this product on August 25, 2022. I highly recommend this taser after nearly a year of reliable use. This product was the first taser I've ever purchased and I feel as if I made the correct decision. Edit; 6/2/2023; Still haven't needed to charge it, amazing. For the first time since I've purchased it me and my brother tested it on ourselves. We both took a turn testing it on the left "cheek". We only did a very short burst/zap and goodness, you can tell if it had gone on for a second, even two it would have made me fall down/the legs go out. It felt as if I got a big prick on the cheek but a prick that makes you go forward like a cartoon saying "YOOOOUCH". it left a red spot the size of about 3 quarters put together which went away within the hour. I can personally say this would make a person think twice, even if they had a melee weapon. We took all safety precautions, and since I haven't charged it since I purchased the taser it most likely wasn't the full effect. And I had pants on, do not try this on yourself, and be safe fellas. Edit 7/17/2023; Finally have to charge it but I lost the charger It's been so long. Gonna have to find out what chord it uses to get a new one. Still a good product. Edit 6/22/2024; Got a charger a few months back, taser still working great.

I’ve always had a stun gun in my pocket whether I’m walking by myself or with my dog. My previous SG died (after 35 years!), so I shopped for a replacement. I told my husband I was shopping, and he said, “Oh! Get me one, too!” I ordered them in the morning, and they arrived the same day. They were partially charged right out of the box, so, of course, we had to “air fire” them. The crackle alone is impressive and would make any assailant think twice. As others have mentioned, the holster is pretty wimpy, but my husband likes to play with leather, so he’s going to make us new ones. I generally carry mine in my pocket, anyway, so not a big deal. I also carry a small flashlight, so not sure how much I’ll use that feature, but it’s still handy. We put them on chargers to fully charge. My husband used the charger that came with the SG. I put mine on my phone charger. Mine was done faster, so he switched his SG to his phone charger, and it, too, finished quickly. I’ll update this review in a few months when we’ve seen how well they hold a charge, but, so far, we think this was a good choice.

The 4 stars is not because of product reliability, its a rating that encompasses the product as a whole. If I was just rating the Stun Gun itself, it would have gotten full 5 stars. This unit can paralyze the attacker when used correctly. I bought several of these to place in every room of my home where visitors can't see them, but should someone break in, any one of my family can quickly access one allowing time to get even stronger protection if needed. One of the best things about buying these from Amazon is the fact they were able to ship them the same day which my family needed desperately because earlier that day an attempt was made to pry our back door open as the thief/robber had assumed no one was home. The fact we were able to get these the same day, gave my family the peace of mind so we could sleep soundly, knowing had they returned, they would be in for a big surprise. Now, the reason for the 4 stars, the holder it comes with that allows you to attach it to a belt, is extremely weak. The first one broke in under 2 hours, the second one I tried out tore in under 15 minutes. This is extremely bad if your trying to carry one on you, as if it breaks it will drop allowing just about anyone to pick it up, and the last thing you need is the person breaking in to get their hands on it and use it against you. There are plenty of holsters available that will hold this unit, so highly suggest if your looking for a reliable stun gun, to get this model and buy a holster separately. Modifying review 3/21/2017. Despite the fact the holder is extremely bad, and I highly suggest getting a better holder for it, this Stun Gun is definitely extremely reliable. Not only is it good against intruders, discovered its great against vicious dogs as well. Found out painfully first hand. Got a call from my shipper that they can't deliver my shipment until I put my dog away. I don't own a dog so assumed the carrier had gone to the wrong house, that was until I go to open the door and a huge dog tries pushing its way in. Definitely non friendly. I couldn't get the door closed, so reached for the stun gun and pressing the button at the same time trying to make contact with the dog without getting bitten, obviously made contact by the sound the dog made and at the same time got paralyzed myself because in the panic, I stupidly had my hand on the metal band that snakes itself 1/4 way down the Taser. Be careful of this btw. Owner of the dog came by not long after. Seems someone tried getting into their home and let the dog out. The dog is fine, but definitely wary of me and I'm just waiting for the feeling to return to my arm. The feeling is worse than accidentally touching the prong of a plug while plugging it in and definitely debilitating. If this company makes projectile ones, I'm definitely going to buy 2.
