Perfect for the task
The media could not be loaded. Perfect for the task. Strong, fine to handle and does exactly what I need it to do, which is using the handy sized pick-axe to punch and claw out the soil and stones from a huge storm-felled Elm tree's root system so the roots can be sawed off to later winch it out of the pond it fell into.

A little too lightweight?
This is an ideal little tool for digging with the pick end and then scraping out the loose material with the blade. The fact that the pick and shaft slide easily apart makes it very compact to carry though it does have a habit of coming loose in use too. After some quite heavy use it does appear to be very durable. the only thing was I couldn't help feeling that it would ave been better if the metal pick were a little heavier. The pick is 427g (15 ounces) and the haft is 38cm (15 inches). If I were to buy again I'd look for about 550-600g and 45cm respectively. The extra weight and length would not be tiresome to pack and carry but would give a little extra digging power and would stop me catching the back of my knuckles so often.

Lightweight yet effective.
This little fellow will proved your smaller needs. High quality and durable. I did feel the need to sharpen it,but that is a personal preference. For little jobs it's ideal, though if you're breaking concrete ,slabs, rock and such,a larger size would service. I believe the same company offer this. Rather happy with a weed free patio.

Strong
Liked the look from add.Is very good around garden for weeding. However don’t like the fact head comes loose.Idont wish to have it separating like this and as I like the tool Will try and use a strong glue to stop the head becoming separated when using it.Should offer a choice of fixed head permanently/unfixed.

Game changer for breaking up impacted clay / rubble and preparing planting holes
This is a fantastic tool - I’ve been using it to break up impacted flower beds that are a mixture of hard clay, flint and builders rubble. I have a full size mattock, which great for the initial heaviest work, but this lightweight / one-handed mini mattock is SO much more effective and useful when it comes to more detailed work, preparing individual planting holes, or preparing tight spots. It’s also increased the speed I can plant at. Highly recommend. I read the reviews that complained about the head and handle being two separate pieces - this actually makes it a really convenient tool for storing - as long as you make sure the head firmly grasps the handle before starting to use, it never once came loose mid swing. Highly recommend.

Small sized but very useful
My mother in law loves this, so it must be good. It’s compact and you hold it in your hand and give the soil a good wack to get rid of weeds.

Good tool
The head is not attached and slides on the top. Doesn't always stay there.

A multi-use tool.
I got this for digging small drainage channels to ease flooding in paddocks, as I needed to cut into gravel under soil. Haven't used it for this yet-too wet to work!, but on a smallholding I can see it's potential for a lot of uses, including prising up paving, opening stuck doors, & breaking ice. It feels well-balanced, easy to handle, & hard to lose, as bright yellow. I've dropped it head-down a few times to shunt the head on securely, time will tell if it stays on in use.
