My Life Contract: 90-Day Program for Prioritizing Goals, Staying on Track, Keeping Focused, and Getting Results

Shorter than it seems, nothing new but good motivation
Something to note is that about 1/3 of the book is filled with semi-blank pages to write daily goals in. While this might be useful to people who actually write in their books, it feels a bit misleading to me. It almost feels like it's just filler and that an outline could have been given instead. That being said, the book is helpful for motivation mainly. Nothing huge is revealed in this book, just the basic outline of: know what you want in life, make a goal to get there, and keep working toward it, keeping track of progress and adjusting as needed. The part I liked was the idea that you do all you can and "Life" (or your higher power) does the rest. I wish there were more details about that aspect rather than a few pages.I will use this book for my IOP class's goal group, so it's useful. If you already know about goal-setting in general, this book offers nothing new. If you need motivation, it can be helpful and inspiring. The relatively short read is helpful for those who procrastinate.

`I am ready to live the life I love!'
Joel Fotinos is a strong life coach, blending the best of personal accountability with spiritual guidance that is so typical of his wide range of books. Though there are many self-help books on how to improve your life on the shelves and ebook formats today (especially in this climate of disparity of classes of those that have and those that have not), few of them are as concrete in the manner of approaching attaining life goals. What Joel offers is that all too familiar concept of a contract - we sign them with our gardeners, our banks, our credit card sources, our repairmen etc - but few have presented the concept of making success a contract with life. And that is where Joel shines. He offers a section on what a Life Contract is, a section of putting the Life Contract into practice, and a section that brings all the questions and information needed to make this concept of a Life Contract work - a Life Contract Questionnaire. As he states early on, `Life always wants more form us than we want for ourselves...sometimes we ask for too little, don't believe we deserve anything, begrudge others having more than ourselves, want to stay comfortable more than we want to grow, sabotage our own efforts, don't stay focused, and procrastinate.' Where he goes from there is making a Life Contract and that is where the book becomes truly fascinating. He sets our individual Goal at the apex and then places OUR contractual responsibilities (Get clear about where you are now, Get Clear about what you want, Make a decision, Take action immediately, C&P: Consistent and Persistent, and Strive for excellence at one side of the base and LIFE's contractual Responsibilities (How, When) at the other side of the base. And once he explains each aspect of the triangle of contract he devotes the rest of the book to `MY PLAN FOR THE DAY from day 1 - 90.'Just as with any Contract, making a contract with Life has built-in accountability and provides an outline for keeping our word, our side of the contract, until the goal is reached. It works! `Dreams' can and so become Realities - it is in the contract! Grady Harp, October 14
