Excellent value - Navigation is perfect!
We bought this because we wanted to try a vacuum with LiDAR after being tired of listening to our old I3 roomba constantly bumping into everything. We also wanted to give self-emptying a try, without spending a fortune. We have been extremely pleased with this purchase! This vacuum works well, and the navigation is flawless! It mapped the entire house faster than our old vacuum mapped a single room! The app has better features than our i3 had (though I did find the i3 app a little more intuitive) That said, it really wasn’t that hard to get used to the app for this vacuum. The only thing I liked better about the i3 roomba was that it had dual rubber brushes that seemed to do a more thorough cleaning than the single traditional-looking brush that this has. Those dual runner brushes seem to last forever, too, and don’t get hair tangled throughout them. However, this vacuum is so much quicker at cleaning our house, you could have it do multiple passes (an option in the settings). I’ve been using single pass and have been content with how well it cleans, but I just mentioned the i3 dual roller because I do feel that aspect was a more superior design. I suspect roomba has a patent on it because you don’t really see other brands doing that. This vacuum seems a little more quiet than the i3 was, and is much quieter when you consider it spends FAR less time bumping into things. It’s very rare that it will touch anything because its LiDAR sensor knows something is there before hitting it.The self emptying works beautifully! The charging station/bin briefly is quite loud, sounding like a “normal” non-robot vacuum for around 20-30 seconds. The best part about this is that it’s powerful enough to do a decent job of clearing out the filter, too, so it lasts much longer between cleaning/changes.Very last point - Mopping. We don’t use it, and haven’t even tried it. To me, the mopping feature doesn’t seem worthwhile. I felt that way before even deciding to make this purchase, so I don’t feel it’s a reason to take away stars. Honestly, I wish they offered a “mop-less” version that just has more room for vacuumed dirt instead of taking up space for the water dispenser portion. I just feel the mop negates the whole point of a self-emptying vacuum that would end up needing attention to remove the mop pad so it can do its daily carpet cleaning. Also, I’d rather not risk dragging a dirty wet mop over my carpets. I can stick with old-fashioned manual mopping.

Very good
I've had this for a few days and did my first run with it. I previously used Shark and iRobot. This Tapo vac is better than both of them. It provides more efficient mapping and cleaning. One problem is that it did abort cleaning due to a "stuck brush" twice on the first run (but not subsequently), though the brush did not appear to have a problem, just a couple of hairs to be removed. Nonetheless, everything else worked well. The setup is a snap. The LiDAR navigation and mapping technology with this unit is amazing, too, so I recommend LiDAR as an effective approach for a vacuum's navigation. I was totally stunned to watch the mapping process in action, because the LiDAR scans and maps most of the entire visible area of a room in just a few seconds. The vac then goes out and does some scouting to refine rooms' edges for the map. Unlike some other brands, this Tapo vacuums each room, one room at a time. In other words, it finishes a room before going to the next room. I like that, because I understand where the vac is going to go. For each room, it seems to start with the room's perimeter, and then covers the entire interior systematically. It didn't miss any spots, and it was impressive in working around furniture legs, climbing over (and cleaning) barstool bases, and the like.My iRobot had numerous troubles connecting to my phone, and the vac's navigation seemed slow and inefficient. With Tapo, it's better, and you have a lot of features in the app, too-- can spot clean, easily specify a room to clean, easily alter the map, etc. The app is simple and functional.I set up the room dividers and carpet definitions in just a few minutes. I had a bit of trouble editing the carpet setting that I had created, but I eventually figured it out.Mopping worked surprisingly well. Attaching the mop unit and adding water to the tank are simple. The mop left the floors nice and clean, avoiding the carpet as expected. Removing and cleaning the mop are fast and easy. The Tapo base is nice and small, and works without a hitch. The suction power is important on these vacuums. Tapo's low setting seemed to be ineffective-- was leaving behind dirt and particles-- so I set the suction to "turbo" (power level #3 of 4). That works so far.Battery power has been very good on this device, better than iRobot's. For bedroom, living room, kitchen, hallway, and closet, not even half of the battery was used. I then also did a complete mop run of the floor areas on the same battery charge.Another great feature of Tapo is the voice from the vac that tells you about important events or notifications. It is easy to understand, in your own language. You don't have to refer to a manual to find out what a display of blinking lights means. The notifications also appear in text in the app at the same time. While the vac was running, I was able to pause it easily by pressing a button in the app or on the vac device itself. It paused immediately and reported that it had paused. In summary, TP-Link has figured out the key details to make this robotic vacuum device work well, and it's user-friendly. I recommend it.
