I found it useful for measuring stair treads that were not square. Cut a length of plywood or lumber that matches your stairs and go to work. Instead of measuring multiple times and making a bunch of notes, I could just adjust the jig to fit the tread was working on and then transfer that same geometry to the new tread. For me, the knobs worked fine since I only do stairs occasionally. For someone doing stairs every day, they probably will use a professional model. The measurement markings stamped into the edges of the tool are nice.

This tool does what it says. You do need to cut a 1x2 slightly smaller than the stairwell. But the ends then adjust for the stair tread, or riser perfectly. It does take a few seconds to adjust the tool in place for each measurement; and "professional" tools are faster. But, at this price; it is absolutely wonderful for DIY, and the tool will store in a smaller box.

Exactly as described and decent quality. They do provide different screws so it’s easy for non-standard or custom drawers (like I have). Should work for almost all sizes.Minus 1 Star: My only problem is the design.. not an issue in quality but given its round with 1 screw.. it spins easy after couple uses. Not ideal.. would prefer 2 screw or some mechanism that keeps it from rotating. Not bad for low use cabinets though given the price point.

Do not hesitate to purchase these. They are a must-have for anyone (pro or novice) who is installing stair treads.It seemed to good for the price, but they are of very good quality & well built. I could not be more satisfied with how well my stairs came out as a result of these template tools. I have been in construction for 25+ yrs. and I wish that I bought these a long time ago. I work on commercial construction sites and will also be able to use these for installing window sills. LL Flooring has plastic ones that they sell for about 22 bucks but they are not nearly as nice as these.

11 stairs later and this was perfect! Came with everything you need to measure and lay out your stairs. I was able to measure and cut out all of our stairs in under an hour with this tool. Hands down recommending it to anyone redoing their treads/risers!

Wasn't sure I even needed a template jig for installing laminate on my stair treads and 1/4" panels on my risers.I bought this due to price and the instruction videos all used one. What a critical tool! On my steps I could count on nothing being square - this tool made the job immensely easier for a fraction of the price for "pro" models. Turned out great!Bonus tape measure, level, and carpenter's pencil.

Used this to layout shelves from 33” to 85” and the finish cut was done with a track saw, the jig quality is stainless steel and well made

worked great for getting the stairs very close to correct. Stairs are expensive so getting them right is important. this tool held the angles very well.

I didn't get a good fit as my old stairs were to warped and twisted to have a decent measurement but it was easy to use.
