Yes, just make sure to measure everything very carefully or it could be uneven and uncomfortable. I recommend dry fitting (hold them in place with tape) for foot placement. You can ( if it's a plastic kayak) shine a laser pointer through the hull for marking the holes. Match bolt size to drill bit size for a water tight seal.

That's the price you pay for steering. I did the same thing for adding a trolling motor to my yak. SOME foot rest locking triggers are pressed in and can be pulled out with a pair of pliers. Others, like the stock set on a sundolphin got a set of side cutters to them. So my suggestion would be to find a set of these at your local big box store and see how they are assembled, then make your purchase. Mysetup has a working set of braces with a set on my cables for steering. I can easily slide off the steering braces then use the adjustable stock braces for paddle only days.
