As always with HP, worked straight from the box. Networked easily and print quality for day to day at home is excellent. Set on fast print for day to day printing, saves ink and is really good print. Much better than the Epsom multifunction machine I payed considerably more money forCartridge life is moderate for a printer of its size and capabilities. Would recommend for home use but not nearly powerful enough for volume printing on a day to day or office basis.Bear that in mind and you should be happy with this little home multifunction from HP

I am always on the verge of returning this printer. My advice would be to not purchase it. Actually, given my experience with HP printers, I would not be keen on buying them ever again. There are so many silly frustrating time-consuming issues with this printer. Here are some. We have installed the HP Smart software, but I would much prefer to be able to directly control the printer using Apple's print subsystem, as it is considerably more reliable and just throw the final print code to the printer using a USB cable. As it is, we have had to reinstall the printers a couple of times.I hate the way that the HP software constantly insists on you setting up an account and trying to force you to use their ink programme. I see no advantage for the customer in their programme in any way.Anyhow, it's configured using the HP Smart. 1. The printer often goes into a sleep where is can't be contacted by anything. You can't restart using the power button. You have to remove and reinsert the power cable. This is obviously frustrating when the printer is remote from the computer. 2. It seems impossible to get the display on the printer to sleep. The options is set, but it does not sleep. 3. Expensive genuine HP cartridges have been used. However, after installing a fresh set from HP packaging, the printer has not recognised that the ink has been refilled, and continually reports "Ink low", even with a brand new set of cartridges. This would not matter so much, EXCEPT, the stupid printer reports this on the display and won't print until you clear the message by pressing OK on the screen. Again, if you printing remotely, you have to physically visit the printer to do this.The printer hardware itself is very good quality. It seems fairly robust. The print quality is good. However, the issue is sometimes actually getting the printer to print because of the firmware/software issues.I have updated the firmware to the latest version.In summary, my recommendation would be to not buy this.

Great works well

I had a hp printer and it turned out it wasn't compatible with instant ink and would cost a fortune so I looked for a new printer that was compatible with instant ink.I didnt realise how hard this would be but quickly picked up I needed a printer that would print large quantities. This printer prints 800 pages a month and come with an instant ink package.My package is 700 pages to print a month but I got 9 months free ink trial with it. Instant ink was so easy to set up and can be cancelled at any time.I have learned that to get the best from the print side of the printer you do need to use good quality paper for the best print quality.I do get smears occasionally but It has a print head cleaner setting and that works well.The printer is set up to my computer by Wi-Fi but can also be set up on your phone on the hp smart app.I have a small gift tag business and the printer has allowed me to bring the standard of my tags to another level.I would Highly recommend this printer

Amazon delivery was fine, and it arrived spot on time. But it then took me all afternoon to set it up. An absolute nightmare. The "wizard" was hopeless, the instructions (especially with regard to the wifi, were not at all clear, and I seemed to be going round and round in circles. In the end I had to telephone my tame professional expert who managed to set me right.As for the printer itself, it seems to print OK but it seems a much more flimsy affair than my old 8620 which has just died. The touch screen is confusing, the paper feed is a bit hit and miss, and I am not at all sure about the bells and whistles. I will reserve judgement on that until later.
