Chrome Industries Kadet Max Messenger Bag – Crossbody Sling Backpack for Men and Women w/Quick Release Buckle

My partner uses this bag regularly and has since I bought it. It’s fairly spacious, able to fit a (I believe) 15” laptop or a wide variety of items including a 32oz water bottle with no trouble. The strap length is adjustable and very long, so my partner is able to wear it just as comfortably at a 37” chest as I am at a 50” chest!My only complaint about it would be that it isn’t really possible to switch what shoulder it goes over unless you want to wear it on your front.I’m very happy with both the Chrome Industries bags I’ve purchased (this and the Kadet Mini, which I bought used) even at the price point.

Is a good sling bag well made with strong materials. I believe it could stand very rough condition or situation. I would recommend to buy it specially if you are a busy daily commuter.

About me: I’m a fan of Chrome since my first messenger bag from them. I currently own 6 bags, a pair of shoes and some other gear. Their service at the Seattle Hub is what sold me.I made the mistake of buying another bag that was on sale. While it fit my stuff, it wouldn’t work as a proper sling bag, like the Chrome Kadet Max. Because of prior injury, I really prefer a left shoulder sling that sits close to the body. Closeness is for leverage and balance while the sling config allows me to shift the weight off pain points.For the bag… I chose the Max XR, X-tra Reflective, because of its sailcloth construction. It’s lighter and more resilient, but is only available on the XR or in red. Despite the flashing panel, which can be easily covered, the design and materials make it feel like my Tensile Sling, only enlarged by 400%. The 50mm webbing and padding make this bag supremely comfortable while loaded. 4 expansion straps, 2 of them lengthened for use as accessory straps, keep the load from shifting while offering expansion capacity. There are also 4 external anchors for securing more stuff to the bag. Also included is a sternum strap to keep the bag in place while riding.Internally, the front pocket has pouches for a power brick, cables, and a tether for keys. The main section has a padded, terry cloth slot for your 16” laptop. Some slim 17”” laptops may fit, YMMV. The opposite side is lined with an organizer, with space for notepads, a small tablet, cables, pens, etc. All zips are sealed, helping make the XR weather and water resistant.I believe the volume is rated at 15L, which is just enough for me as a photographer/videographer. While I can’t fit my stills cameras in there, I can fit much of my post production gear in it: MBP16, iPad Pro 13, stand, Thunderbolt 4 cable, SSDs, desktop cameras, batteries, etc.It isn’t perfect, though. I gave it 4 stars because it’s missing some basic things. That’s sorta the norm for Chrome… they’ll overlook simple things. In this case, a second padded slot for a large tablet would’ve been greatly appreciated. Also, a luggage strap, and a second handle by the shoulder pad, would be helpful, if not mandatory, nowadays. Lastly, offering a version in black sailcloth, without the reflective panel, would be greatly appreciated by me.If you need an actual sling bag, not a messenger bag or crossbody bag, for a 16” laptop, this is pretty much the only game in town. Fortunately, it’s an excellent bag backed by a lifetime warranty that’s weatherproof and is priced within reason.Lastly, if you can live with white or red, you can get it for as low as $90 during the holidays.

Great bag. YES the support strap does come off. And the two lower straps and be moved to become two long from straps.

Exactly what I needed for riding around on my e-bike. The perfect amalgamation of a sling and a messenger bag! Comfortable and very durable quality. Highly recommend it!
