Hairy Hettie: The Highland Cow Who Needs a Haircut! (Picture Kelpies)

You will want to go and see these cows in person. They are almost as comical as Hettie in person and they love tourists. Scottish Highlands here I come!

Kids loved reading this book

The only thing I’d change in this book is the writer dedicates the book to her grandmother’s love of Coos but the title and throughout the book she says cow…they’re Scottish Higland Coos not cows. Otherwise it’s a sweet story and beautiful illustrations!

Such a cute series! Hide and Seek Hettie remains my girl’s favorite but we both enjoy this one too. I hope the author makes more of them. We have 3 and I think that’s all there are so far. I bought my girl a highland cow stuffed toy and she LOVES it because of these books. Can’t wait to bring her to Scotland to see the real thing and learn about where we come from. :)

I bought this for my great granddaughter so she could be introduced to our Scottish heritage. She loved the story and there were many teaching moments throughout the book. I will purchase the other Hettie books.

This is a nice book. The pictures are pretty but not stunning. The story is engaging for little ones, but probably not for the 5-and-up crowd. I was hoping there might be more pictures showing what the highlands look like in various seasons, but the illustrations are all pretty close up shots of Hettie & co. I plan to keep this and read it to any little ones with Scottish heritage that I might come across (I'm hoping for a niece!), but it won't be quite suitable to read to a class of fidgety first graders.

As an adult I didn't think the story was anything special, but my daughter at 3 and 4 years of age loves it and thinks its hilarious! It also helps that we bought it for a special trip to Scotland, and we saw highland cows, so she loves them and calls them all Hairy Hettie. She really wants the companion book Hungry Hettie too.. but I don't know..

Cute story

Book is fun ,fun,FUN. I read it to my Grand daughter and it makes us both laugh. Also there is much to talk about in each picture with her. She is only one and a half so just learning about the world and this book is a fun way to help.
