200lbs of batteries no problem
I have 200lbs of LifePO4 battery cells sitting on this shelf and it seems to hold the weight just fine. There's no sagging or bending of any sort. I appreciated how adjustable to the mounting was, which allowed me to easily adjust the shelf for my adjustable Startech rack. It was pretty easy to mount, despite some reviews I saw stating otherwise. It'll definitely be a lot easier if you have someone to help hold it up briefly while you get the cage nut bolts in and if you have it correctly adjusted.

Strong durable server rack shelf
This Startech Server Rack Shelf is durable and strong. Holds anything I put on it. It's a four-post shelf and has strong support in each corner. I purchased three of them for a recent server rack project, and previously purchased two of them for a different project. I recommend it.

Very sturdy shelf for your rack.
Very heavy duty shelf. Designed to work in most rack units that use standard snap in square peg round hole type mounting. I bought it to work as the top rack in my Startech 25 U expandable rack system. I had attempted to use a pair of cantilever shelves, front and back, but found that even though the shelves were rated at 50 lb, the concentrated weight of my NAS units was too much for the cantilever shelves to handle. My main NAS is a Netgear ReadyNAS 314 with a 4 X 3 GB compliment of WD Red drives, paired to a 4 by external expansion that holds 4 X 2 GB WD Reds, plus a Synology that holds 2 X 2 TB Reds. That many drives has a considerable amount of very focused weight. This shelf holds all that, plus a traditional, and normally floor placed, 1000 Ah AOC uninteruptible supply. I was thinking about replacing that supply with a rack mount unit, but this shelf made that unnecessary.

Great shelf, but definitely NOT what it is said to be!
This is a beautifully made, sturdy, and high quality shelf. The description says that it is an adjustable depth shelf of between 19.5 to 38 inches. To me (and I would think to many others, too), that description means that the shelf surface is adjustable. But that is not the case. The shelf itself has a fixed depth of about 27.5 inches. It's only the side attachments that can be adjusted for rack depths between the stated 19.5 to 38 inches. I am very disappointed that I will not be able to use this well-built shelf, and I am unhappy that I didn't catch this characteristic of the shelf before ordering it. The description should be changed to something that will avoid this type of potential confusion.

Well built heavy duty shelf
I probably didn't need this 250 lb weight capacity heavy duty shelf over the regular175 lb weight capacity one, but the 175 lb one was so well designed & built, that I ordered 5 of theses heavy duty ones in addition to the regular shelves. I am extremely satisfied with both the Startech rack & the Startech shelves.

Excellent Rack Shelves -- Installation Could Be Easier Using Rails
Currently, I have 3x StarTech 1U Shelves (250lbs - Vented) mounted in my StarTech 25U Open Frame Server Rack. While they are certainly sturdy, and they hold the advertised weight without bending, bowing, or sagging, installation is more difficult than it should be. The shelves use rack ears instead of rails, thus adjusting to fit requires a bit of pre-planning. Additionally, using nuts in place of rails makes adjusting the shelf, once mounted, a major pain as you need to losen or remove them from each ear before those adjustments can be made (making sure you remove whatever the shelf is holding beforehand). As a general recommendation, if you do intend to place full load on the shelf, I would recommend upgrading the nuts to something similarly sized to the holes in the shelf. As noted above, the shelves do hold the advertised weight, though the nuts are pretty small and there's only 6-8 keeping the shelf mounted to the ears. In my case, that means 6-8 nuts holding 250 lbs.If you're new to rack mounted shelves, or you have an enclosed rack, I would highly recommend removing the ears from the shelf and mounting them first. Once mounted, slide the shelf through from front to back. This allows you to easily install the nuts, and if you do have an enclosed rack, it allows you to bring them closer to the middle of the shelf where there's more room for tightening. All things considered, however, these shelves are not really designed to be moved often and my complaints wouldn't stop me from buying another. Despite the rather difficult mounting requirements and a lack of rails, the shelves are solid, fit the bill for my needs, and come highly recommended.

Very sturdy!
This was the ideal solution to the bottom of my server cabinet being too weak to support a UPS. This thing is STRONG,.
