Garmin GPSMAP 1042xsv Boating GPS, 10", (Without transducer)

I replaced my 12 inch GARMIN that was about 11 years old, I went with 2 of these 10 inch ones. Decided to have a backup. Hate to be stuck 70 miles off shore without a way home!

product arrived on time and as expected.

I never opened the package. It was obvious that the package had been opened and retaped in a poor manner. This was an expensive electronic item with multiple pieces (connectors, cables, etc) and I could not be sure that it was in working order or that all necessary items were included. Very disappointed.

I bought this unit to put at the console. I also bought a 93sv unit to put on the front of the boat by the trolling motor - bottom line, the 93sv has more value than the 1042xsv. It is easier to go through the menus and the mapping is considerably better on the 93sv. And I thought the 1042 was a touch screen unit. It is not. The 93sv is touchscreen and is $400 less. I am not impressed with this unit.

Does not come with a SD memory card and insists on one before it will work with Active Captain. Save yourself a step and buy one now with the chartplotter.

The description is incorrect. It clearly reads: "Includes transducer with high wide CHIRP, 250 W and CHIRP ClearVü/SideVü, 455/800, 350 W (also available without transducer)" It does NOT. False advert.

Rather go for touchscreen. Menus are poor to navigate.
