The GOAT
I love the design of this handheld, it is one of the most used in my collection. The buttons feel fairly nice, the screen is about what you would expect for this price range but it is reasonably bright and you won't have issues outdoors provided you aren't on the surface of the sun. The performance is pretty solid, you can play some GameCube games but others not so much, everything else runs great. Since it uses android in my opinion it's very easy to use and get set up with, although some may prefer a stock OS. I would definitely recommend using custom firmware such as Gamma OS.

Plays alot of games very well
The media could not be loaded. I would like to start by saying that anbernic handhelds are really good quality this thing is really fun it comes with games already to play sonic adventure 2 came with mine but I also put my own games on it too which is pretty kool as you can see in the photos. I added clock tower 3 which is one of the scariest games ever I played it in the dark with good headphones and my heart was pounding lol and I became hooked.i love that they included a headphone jack even though you can use Bluetooth. Also dreamcast works flawless some ps2 and gamecube games may not run properly but alot of them do work good you just have to experiment. The battery life is insane last very long I got like 8 or 9 hours. If that isn't enough you can also install apps from Google play store it has Google play store already installed for you. I downloaded streets of rage 4 and teenage mutant ninja turtles shredders revenge from the store and they work flawless .you can even play gta 3 vice city or gta san andreas all from google playstore and they runs flawless and there's more you just gotta check the playstore. It even works with a usb c fast charger that's how I charge mines.all I can say is I love mines and I would definitely recommend this system rg405v.

Best retro handheld owned to date
This is my third Anbernic device and most powerful of them (and most expensive). In short, it delivers the retro gaming experience I was expecting of it, with a few caveats. It was $185 when purchased, a decent value for what it deliver. It comes with Android installed, which you can easily download more apps, browsers, games, etc. You'll need to have moderate tech skills if you're going to do more than just emulate games of older systems. If "side-loading apps" is something you're already doing, then you're good to go with this. If you want to install a different OS, there are some solid ones available that reportedly make the device capable of running GameCube games that it can't quite do with the stock OS. Speaking of systems...This can easily emulate game systems up to (and including) the N64, PS era. So, anything older than that gen, this can do no problem. I do mostly N64 emulation, which it handles very well. It can even run beefier games like Perfect Dark without any slowdown. The form factor is generally comfortable to hold while playing games. Most of the controls feel just right, except the shoulder and trigger buttons. For the vertical form factor, I give the design engineers credit for doing a decent job with shoulder and trigger buttons, but they do take a little getting used to. I sometimes press them by accident and struggle to press the trigger versus shoulder buttons at times (which I may be reversing that, but you get the idea).I recommend turning the fan on auto. It was set to off, out of the box. The fan isn't very loud although it can be heard, depending on speed. It's nothing bothersome, imo.It ships with a bunch of games (assuming you opted for the one that comes with the SD card included). Very few of them were of interest to me, so your mileage may vary there. My main interest in this device was to play and enjoy the games I loved going all the way back to the days of Atari. So, I already had the game ROMs I knew I'd be playing most.It can play some GameCube Wii games, too, but I would not recommend getting it for that reason. In my experience, very few of them ran in a playable state (without slowdown and audio breaking up). There are settings that can make GameCube and Wii games run smoother and places online where you can find people posting their settings. My experience with GameCube games however, was not great. Again, my main interest in this device was to play N64 games without any slowdown and this delivers in that department. The screen is good quality, bright, vibrant colors and refreshes without any noticeable ghost trails. I believe the resolution is 640x480, which it should be listed in the product specs section of its product page. The build in speakers are serviceable. They're small and actually louder than I expected, but not of the quality you'll hear coming from a Steam Deck or anything. They're stereo speakers, but they're too close together for me to perceive much stereo separation. Playing with headphones is a much better experience to me.The buttons feel good. They're solid and press comfortably. The shoulder & trigger buttons are a bit awkward but work well enough. They're just less comfortable but not a dealbreaker or anything. It's a minor issue at most. The analog sticks feel good and have just the right amount of stiffness for my liking. They're not Steam Deck quality, but for the price and form factor size, they work well for me. If you own any other Anbernic handhelds with analog sticks, these pretty much feel the same to me.Battery life is outstanding. I was really surprised how long the battery lasts during some of my gaming sessions. Playing SNES games, the battery barely loses 10% after about 2 hour. N64 games wears the battery down a little faster, but I've never gone down to 50% even after a couple hours of uninterrupted play with N64 games after a full charge. GameCube games will wear the battery down much faster, understandably. I'm rather impressed with battery life, though. So, it's not a perfect handheld, but it IS a very good one and I'm more than pleased with my purchase. Definitely recommend for retro gaming fans seeking N64/PS generation or earlier.

Runs pretty smooth
This handheld and the many preloaded games brought back so many of my childhood memories! I have been playing mainly Pokémon. It runs gba and nds games perfectly. For some of the 3ds games, it is still pretty smooth without any configurations, and it became perfectly smooth after I downloaded the newest version of the emulator. The download was also easy because it has an android system. Definitely worth the money!

Great but, shoulder button woes
It's a good device, battery lasts a couple days with 3D games (PS1, N64 in my case) just need to turn the system off completely if not going to be used for an extended period of time. It will die fast if you leave it in sleep mode for some reason. Buttons are responsive enough, input lag will always be there in any device, so games are gonna feel different compared to the old CRT days.Use your own SD card and ROM collection. The included SD card isn't high quality and the ROMS are a little janky. Don't expect to play flawless gamecube or ps2 on this either, some games work well but not many. Mario Kart Wii will work if you have the 30FPS cheat, Double Dash works great but not with the included emulator, Rayman 3 will also work... It's very hit or miss with anything above PS1, so be aware of that. Handhelds of this size aren't there yet for those consoles. My biggest issue is that the shoulder buttons are flawed and will fail after a while due to poor design. Already losing functionality in the left shoulder button... This has been rectified with a new design, but if you got the old one, your buttons will fail eventually. No way to tell if you're getting a new or old model either by the way! Not something I want to see in a device that costs this much. Will be thinking twice before going with Anbernic again.Been a while, now one of my left shoulder buttons doesn't work at all. Seems to have cracked on the inside. Don't let the metal shell fool you, cheap components were used in this device.
