Had to return for two reasons:The main reason being the quick release plate does NOT secure properly. No matter much i tightened it, my camera could still slide off if I titled my tripod head. This is made worse by the fact that there is NO safety lock - the camera can literally fall off if you're not careful. For small, light cameras then this *probably* won't happen. But then again, my camera with lens only came to 1kg.The second reason was that the two rods were different widths. By eye I could not tell, but whereas one would slide in and out of the system plus my accessories without trouble, the other rod required quite a bit of force. Incredibly frustrating and just rubbish.The actual feel and look of the product is nice. It feels sturdy. I could have dealt with the different sized rods, but i'm not risking my 2k camera falling off on a shoot because of the poor quick release plate. Moral of the story: you get what you pay for.

I bought this as a 'just in case' backup. My main camera rig is made up of more expensive (very much more) components and for the most part they are far superior to this. However, on the odd occasion I find myself needing a second rig, or some other means of securing gear to a tripod, and this is how I'll be using this item. I don't think I would use it for my main camera, but when I need to secure things like wireless receivers, a second monitor, audio recorder, microphones etc, this will come in handy. It's a tad on the cumbersome side, though, so for quick mounting and unmounting, eg to change lenses, batteries etc, it's probably not the most convenient.

Being familiar with the excellence of Smallrig equipment I wasn't sure whether another company's product could meet my expectations. However, I am delighted to find that Neewer stepped up to the mark with this magnificent fitting. At the price it is an absolute bargain. Sturdy, strong and machined to professional tolerances, this piece of rig is a winner.

For anyone looking for a an affordable based plate this would work for you , it’s not that safe with it original camera plate but you can attach a longer one which is what I’ve done , you can also watch his review it in one of my Blackmagic pocket 6K video on YouTube,

Very well constructed, made of high quality metal - aluminium, it allows you to raise the camera up as suggested, and fits the Sony A7. Easy to assemble would highly recommend.

Pretty sturdy for the price and works great with accessories from other companies like SmallRig etc
