Favorite purchase of the year!
I finally pulled the trigger on this sucker. Literally and figuratively. I’d been eyeballing it for about 9 months after using a friends. It is everything I hoped it would be. We have a dog that sheds like it’s his job and 3 kittens that are equally as hairy.I was a bit concerned that being cordless would mean sacrificing a bit of suction. Nope. It’s as sucky as they come, if not suckier. It gets all the hair and dirt! I had purchased another brand (corded) vacuum less than a year ago and had nothing but problems with it. I used it right before opening the Dyson (which I have named Mike Tyson the Dyson by the way), then used the Dyson right afterwards… it was AMAZING how much stuff the old vacuum missed that I didn’t even realize. Our house is mostly hardwoods with some low pile carpeting and it works equally well on both. Another concern I had was the 40 minute run time. Would it be enough time for a full vacuum of my (2000+sq/ft) house? It is. A big part of the reason for that is because it’s SO easy to pull this thing off it’s charger and spot vacuum, I do it far more frequently. No more animal hair tumble weeds that magically appear overnight. The coolest feature is how all of the pieces snap in effortlessly. You can make it long or short and put different attachments on either. I can finally reach my porch ceiling without a chair or ladder! Also, if you need to bring it somewhere away from your house, you can detach it and still bring the cord if you need to charge it without using the docking station. This is obviously not an inexpensive buy, but in my opinion, it’s worth the money. I was sick of buying mediocre ones every couple of years. This comes with a 2 year warranty and lifetime assistance. I kept my eye on it and once the price went down to $399, I bought it. I’ve managed to talk 2 other friends into buying one since I bought mine 8 weeks ago and they are both equally as happy. It’s kind of weird how much I talk about vacuuming now! If you’re on the fence on what to buy, don’t be..

Does Not Meet Expectations
I’ve owned this stick vac for two years. Durability is an issue. Battery is supposed to last one hour? Mine has never lasted more than 20 minutes if I’m lucky. The lever that you use to empty the canister broke and do the entire canister falls into the trash can when I need to empty it. Yuck. Will not purchase this again.

Perfect
This is the 3rd Dyson used over as many decades (and models). My wife swears by them. We've given the old ones to friends and family (they're is going strong). Recommend. What I'm really impressed about is the packaging. Inside the Dyson outer box there very substantial cardboard individual 'boxes' for every attachment and part. I think it could be dropped from a 10 story building and survive intact. This Dyson box was inside the normal Amazon shipping box (big). All card board! No plastic

Warranty not honored by Dyson
Although I love the vacuum, it started to have power issues after one year and a half of use. I contacted dyson support and providing the amazon invoice it was not accepted. Basically they told me that to honor the warranty, you have to buy the product directlylso from them. Also confirmed in the Dyson knowledge base: https://community.dyson.com/general-discussion-132/do-anyone-know-if-dyson-honour-warranty-if-purchased-on-amazon-972Very disappointing for a great product but with a bad warranty to back it up.

1 year review - we have a love-hate relationship
First, this is a great vacuum. For a stick vacuum this thing sucks dirt out of the rug like nothing. It’s really impressive when we clean an area, then go over it again and there’s another full bin of dirt.Great for hard floors too. Has some trouble near the edges of rugs on top of carpets if it’s thin enough to not get good suction.Gets clogged easily - We’ve got kids, dogs, and cats. Our house needs constant cleaning and we’re very demanding of this vacuum, so it’s really frustrating when it gets clogged and we have to stop and clean it.I think this is a symptom of all stick vacs, because our shark does it too. But, I thought the Dyson would be a little better designed to easily clean, but it’s not. We have to have a long skinny stick to clean out a clog from the shaft and there’s a tiny pocket above the canister that’s hard to dig out with your finger, and sometimes we have to get a chopstick involved. This damn filter! At the top of the vac, there’s a removable filter. Filters get dirty, they have to be cleaned, I understand, but this one is so sensitive that after it’s been cleaned and dried, it clogged right back up. It won’t let you vacuum if it’s clogged, so sometimes we have clean again and let dry before we try again, and our floors give us the sad eye. This is a great vacuum, it’s got its issues, but they don’t happen all the time, so it’s manageable. If it didn’t do its job so well we would’ve replaced it. But here we are over a year later and it’s still our main vacuum. And we’re still amazed at what it brings up.

Powerful
I use gorilla mats under 2 cat litter boxes. The mats are great, but really hard to keep clean. As soon as I received the vacuum, I tried it on the mats and couldn’t believe how easy it picked up the litter! This vacuum is easy to use and has lots of power. Definitely recommend!
