A great gift!
The media could not be loaded. I bought this for my best friend's daughter. Lola loves pink and purple colors, heart-shaped items and especially such items. This was very cheap for my budget but that's okay, maybe if I had bought a smartwatch for Lola she wouldn't have been so happy. Because this is something different and something to spend time with.I can say it is a great idea for children's hand skills and development. Lola spent about 8-9 days with this toy and has just completed it. First we tried to design an animal silhouette, but it was very difficult. Then we tried star and we tried heart, it was great. The material is good quality and fun. Even I enjoyed spending time with this toy as an adult, I had fun.

Potential to be rather messy, may need adult help
Depending on what age child you get this for, there is potential for some mess with this kit! Getting the glue to stick on the string, and then getting it wound onto the balloon which is the mould could be tricky. I suggest tying a loop to anchor the string around the neck of the balloon so the independent maker can proceed without needing someone to help the end down. It's nice that enough lights are provided for the three projects. The disposable gloves are too big for young hands - you'll get very sticky without them though. You'll need to find somewhere for the finished objects to dry - it'll take a while too. This wasn't one of those over in five minutes type kits though, which is a bonus.

Tricky! Needs skilled adult involvement.
Bought this as a present for a bright and artistic 9 year old. The instructions don't give adequate advice for how to get the string covered in glue and we had to add clear PVA glue which luckily we had in the house. The plastic gloves provided are useless for a child, way too big. Again luckily we had small gloves available. There's no guidance as to how to secure the starting end of the string, so it's tricky to keep it taut enough not to just slide off the balloon. It's also not easy to get the gooey string to go round evenly and form the shape you want. The drying time is about 3 days, not 1! Having said all that, with good adult involvement the results were nice and the child was happy with her string lights.

A little fiddly
The set includes everything you need with the exception of a bowl/beaker and a little water. I would say this is for older kids 7+ as it is a little fiddly to get it wrapped firmly. You get 3 balloons around 20cm in size and 3 balls of string in different colours and basically soak the string ball into a bowl of some of the glue and some water until soaked and start wrapping firmly around the balloon. At first its somewhat fiddly to keep the string on the balloon but once you've wrapped around a few times it holds ok and easy enough to wrap around if not a little messy. I did on occasion have to unwrap as my daughter hadn't pulled it tight enough to bond to other strands of string.Would recommend putting something down to work over as you do get drips of watered down glue. Its then a waiting game until it dries and the balloon can be removed. The wire lights can then be placed inside through a gap. Its a nice crafting gift, something my daughter hasn't tried before, doesn't take that long to do one balloon, so not a long crafting session but you could do all three at the same time.

A simple craft kit.
A fun little kit. Easy to do if a bit messy with watery glue. The kit does provide a set of three gloves for keeping your hands clean. Worth noting that the blue string does leak dye when it gets wet so be warned that could stain fabrics if it comes into contact with them. Also worth using plenty of glue as it does need a fair bit to keep the string together as the water does weaken it a bit.Not a bad deal for the three balloons and should keep the kids amused for a while.

Nice craft project for children - but no lights/batteries safety warnings !
We tested this sample with the aid of our two grandchildren, ages 7 and 9 years. The box was delivered with a large 'Battery Hazard' warning sticker on the outside..... more of this later in the review.... The two children found the kit instructions easy to follow and set off by choosing 'their' balloon shape, blowing them up - and then putting white glue on the coloured string, before stringing it around the balloon to form the outer shape. Despite the gloves provided (and aprons provided by us) the glue got everywhere... but we can report that the glue DOES wash out of clothes, provided COLD water is used... Then we all waited - and waited - it took two days, plus a couple hours in front of a fan heater, for the glue to fully dry and for the string to remain in the required shape. Finally the hollow shapes were achieved and the strings of lights put in them. Both children very pleased with what they had achieved ! This kit would make a good gift to children of 6-12 years, so long as they have adult supervision.... The complete absence of ANY information/instructions in the kit (or on the box) about what type of batteries are provided with the lights, or how to dispose of them safely , etc. is very concerning - and I am surprised that this kit is allowed to be sold in the UK without this information.
