My old toner/tester was unreliable. I needed to find a replacement.
I needed to replace my old toner/tester. I came across this one that a co-worked used.I love the functionality that it provides. I can check ethernet cables, tone, as well as a few other options that I don’t really use. Both feel good in the hand, and made well. The screen is easy to read. You select the test, and it shows you which connector to use. Both have rechargeable batteries. Like others have said, not all charging cables work. I opted to use the supplied cable. No issues so far.For the price, it’s worth it.

A very good device for troubleshooting physical layer issues
I like it a lot. Great features, and it helped me troubleshoot a difficult to find problem. Only negative is you have to move the wire between two different ports on the unit depending on the test you're running. A little cumbersome, but not to the point where I'd take away any stars.

Great tool with lots of functions
This is a great tool for every IT guy that has to deal with installing or troubleshooting cabling. It does the same as the more expensive 'yellow' brand. The only difference is that the yellow devices use only one connector for all functions and this one has four different ones for different functions, which can be a bit confusing sometimes, hence the 4 stars. It does indicate on the screen which connector to use, so that helps. The interface is a bit clunky, but once you get the hang of the buttons, it's not bad, so for the price, you can't beat it.

I am a network engineer. This is a good basic cable/fiber tester.
I looked at all of the inexpensive testers on the market, and chose this one for home use. I have a fairly extensive network at home, and all of the features on this were things I can use there. Honestly, I have access to just about every tester on the market, so if I need anything better, I just borrow it.This tester has some of the important features you need for home or a small network business. Specifically:- Basic PoE Testing - useful to make sure your switch is providing the correct power.- Cable length: This is a capacitive test not a TDR. What does this mean?First of all its not going to be as accurate as a TDR tester. Its accuracy is "≤20M+/-1.6M,20M~100M+/-2.4M,≥100M+/-3.2M" which means it can be off by about 8 feet on a cable under 100M.Next capacitance varries based on the wire you use so it is possible that it could be better or worse than that.- Continuity tester: Wiremap, fault test, etc.- Cable locator toner and wand- Port flash mode with speed identifier: (hated this! It kept turning off the flash mode before I could find the port!)- PoE Test: End connect, and mid-span testing for PoE with 802.3af/at detection and non-standard and shows voltage on each connection used.- Cable scan: Detects shorts, crossed pair, split-pair, open, loop-back, and has a detector for shield.- Visual fault locator for fiber (Just for a laugh... they say in the manual NVL: 10Mw... I think they meant 10mW! If you have a 10Mw fault locator, you just blew a hole through the fiber, the equipment, the floor, the wall, the neighbors building honestly I'm not sure how far a 10Mw laser would go!-Relative optical Power Meter for light levels including the following wavelengths: 850/1300/1310/1490/1550/1625 ( Wavelength in nM)-USB - C charging-A LIGHT! on the receiver!!!! As in FLASHLIGHT!!!Now the Cons:-Multiple ports for RJ connections that depend on the test you are running. You have to pay close attention to make sure you're on the right port!!!- The enter and back buttons are reversed (at least as far as i am concerned) The enter is on the left and the back is on the right. Its so annoying, that I'm almost tempted to rip it apart and rewire the pads.- If you are trying to blink a port and you are switching from port to port on your patch panel, the blink mode will shut off by itself after a short period. If this is from a remote jack, you have to have someone there to restart it.Overall I'm happy with this test unit. It does what it says, and i haven't had any real problems with using it.

Does not work
Purchase this as an all-in-one tool for quick tests on the field, but most of the features do not work correctly. First, I have no Idea why it uses so many different ports to do the same thing that other devises do with one. You will think is for accuracy, but you will be wrong. Which brings me to my biggest problem with this device, its not accurate at all.The cable length is off by over a foot when you can get it to read. Most of the time it will only read 2 or 3 out of the four pairs marking the others as bad. These are factory made cables, clearly marked, and verified with a Fluke MS2-100. I can understand a small variance from one device to another, but over a feet difference is a big discrepancy. The Flash feature to identify ports on switch will not work on newer Cisco equipment, what we use in our environment. The light on the port will come on for a couple of seconds and it will go away, never coming back. It would work properly on older devices. The PoE features do not give accurate readings. Assessed on different Cisco devices and the voltage was way off.And my biggest gripe with the device, the main reason I purchased it, the OPM reading. It is off by 1 dbm or more. I compare the readings to two other devices, a TM290T and a cheap YGGYM optical power meter. Both the TM290T and the YGGYM were giving me a reading on a single mode, 5m cable, of -6.4 to -6.1. The NOYAFA was giving reading between -7.2 to -7.6 reading.

Good value
This is a good product. They should write a better use manual for it showing which of the three RJ45 sockets to use for each test. Happy with my purchase.
