Royal Hotel BeddingGoose-Down Comforter, 500-Thread-Count, 100% Cotton Shell, 750FP - 56 Ounce, King/California-King

I have been hunting for the “perfect” down comforter/duvet insert for a while now to replace the one I currently have. After much searching and buying/returning this is the one I ended up with. It is (for me) PERFECT. It has a baffle box stitching all the way to the gusseted ends (the only one on this site I can find) which means that the high loft of the down reaches all the way to the ends. It is 90% down and 10% down feather which probably is more than you find elsewhere here. This makes the comforter both very warm and VERY light. Although it says it’s 500 count cotton shell it is such a tight weave that you know the down won’t be wiggling out. Since it’s down and not feathers there are no “ends” to poke out.People often talk about the comforters being "loud" but quality down comforters NEED that strong shell to protect the down. If it isn't stiff it won't be able to keep the down clean and maintain the loft because the weight of the shell isn't on the down. Soft shells won't stay puffy.Once it came, I opened it up and spread it on my bed to “rise” for the day and when I came to sleep it had achieved full loft. I snuggled into it and was amazed that it basically couldn’t be felt as a weight on my body, it actually was stiff enough to kind of hover over me when I snuggled but was so warm because it took the air between my body and the comforter and heated it. It did its job which is to insulate me and not be heavy. So, if you are looking to keep warm but like the heaviness of a blanket this won’t do. If you want to keep warm but not have weight on you this is great.Point of note: The shell material must be covered because the fabric is the kind that WILL yellow if it comes in contact with body oil or sweat. It is that same material used in pillowcases that protects the down from wetness and oil but will stain very quickly. Just keep that in mind. Put it in a duvet cover. Amazon sells them pretty cheaply and they do the job nicely.It's inexpensive because it’s made in China. I don’t expect the geese are happy about that, but if you can get past that it’s a steal. There is no “responsibly sourced” tag.Also, looking at the ratings here notice that there are less ratings because they aren’t farmed and the overall percentage is the highest I have seen here for this price.ONE YEAR LATER_________________Ok, I have had this for over a year and I can say a couple of things. While I have had it continually in a duvet cover (actually one I got here) it has "softened up" a bit. It seems like this is still fluffy, but it doesn't feel as full as it did when I got it. I know there is a bit of settling, but this was not a cheap comforter and it should still be as full and fluffy as when I got it. Also, when I opened the duvet cover to clean it, there are feathers coming out. Tiny ones - since it's a pretty much down and tiny feather comforter, but unlike other comforters I have had in the past, this one is shedding.Is it still good? YES. Would I buy it again? Not likely. For the price I wanted something that was less prone to shedding and would hold up it's "weight" over time.

This goose down comforter is very well made and worth every dollar spent! I have bought many down comforters over the years and I think this is the best ever. The perfect stitching really keeps the down secured in each cube. The down weight is rated medium to heavy and because I sleep in a cold room (my choice), I am completely comfortable. This fit our regular queen size bed perfectly. My wife and I really enjoy our new down comforter. Don't be fooled by the price this is a high quality Comforter. The stitching is good and it does have duvet loops at the corners. It arrived a bit compressed with a heavy fabric\plastic smell to them that took a few days to air out, but it proofed right up just about as in the pictures. Mine didn't shed any feathers at all even in the dryer. This is a very warm, heavily stuffed comforter so if your room is more than 65 degrees you will be hot.

I have had many great experiences with amazon but . . . and as lisa with I assume royal hotel responded, i got the size listed . . . that may be true but this is not california king nor does it cover the bed as illustrated . . . my bad, but and i hate to say this, target has a king which is larger by at least six nches on all sides, but not nearly the fabric comfort so as the fabric is really nice so, . . . perhaps the illustration is not what I should have focused on . . . one must check sizes these days apparently more closely than i have . . . william wilson dallas texas . . . as of april 4, I need to amend this review completely . . . i received a phone call, yes a phone call, from a customer service rep for the otel organization . . . i have never been contacted for a product review or to reconcile issues previously . . .i must emphasize ever . . . .he was the most engaging and informed rep i have encountered, ever . . . unforgivably, i did not get his name so . . . I do recall lisa whom i did not respond to . . . this all concerns the measurements of a comforter which this man explained at length to me and why people misread the sizes of bedding regularly and, my math skills are well . . . I had just accepted the size of the comforter (march 8, 2017) and to say i was astonished by this response does not give it its due . . . we spoke at length about bedding in particular . . . . i learned a great deal about these products as well as the area this man is from . . . and I am fairly sure an invitation to come to Disneyland was included . . . seriously . . . .I can not say enough about this encounter, his organization, his customer skills (everyone should handle people in this manner . . . . so, amazon and royal hotel are again or both at the top of my shopping and approval . . . .I have said too much but this rep was one of the best . . . and I have never received this kind of response, ever . . . I was offered a replacement product as well at no cost to myself . . . what a rare gentlemen this rep is . . . thanks to amazon and to royal hotel . . . i will not forget . . .. Your search for the perfect down comforter is over. This is the one !!Beautiful, soft and fluffy, large enough for our king bed with a one foot overhang on each side, warm and toasty (without being heavy or hot), no hard feathers, quiet, no odor. It truly is Perfect !!If that is not enough, the customer service department is polite and very quick to respond to questions.Love this comforter!!

LOVE this comforter. Did a lot of comparing before purchasing. Have only had it for about a week, but it is very light weight and warm. The only problem I've had is finding a duvet to cover it. I got the over sized queen - which I love as it covers the bed with lots to spare, but it is bigger than even many of the king duvets."
