Removed after one day
This looked good and a good price so purchased , the filter looks large and a good size sponge, however once I plugged it in this was so strong the fish were thrown all over the tank, there is no way to turn this down far to strong for some fish it belts water out, so if you want a high flow this is for you .Also the attatchment of the base to the sponge is not the easiest i had to google this but once you know it is fine just a bit fiddly, it does a great job but a power down option on the flow is a must to this far to strong for even a moderate sized tank but if you have larger or bottom fish it would be great.

Great filter
This is perfect for the aquarium but wouldn't recommend for small fish like tetras. My fish are a pair of clown loaches and one khuli loach. They are all at least 16 years old so quite mature! They love the fast current and clean water it produces. As my aquarium is fairly small it does a very efficient job of keeping it clear. One modification I had to do was cut a small piece of clear plastic to fit between the outflow edge cover and the main body. It is a curved piece from a toothbrush package and works great to divert the outflow slightly downwards because if the water level drops in my aquarium it would point slightly upwards and flood the living room! I would do this mod even for half filled aquariums for turtles etc. as it spreads it better. For cleaning turn off filter and twist body 180 degrees and remove to clean in aquarium water. Be sure to put the inlet spout behind the back of the sponge and ensure sponge is pushed in fully to the top of the body. Also make sure the diverter spout is flush on its seating and reassemble is easy. I always use half a cap of tetra bacteria as there is no media other than the sponge.Great filter as it draws in from the lower half so good for mucky fish!My fish have never looked so healthy!

It's been good so far
I've been using it for a few days now. It's been good so far, I'm using other filter media in it (Im using ceramic rings) and works good. It's very easy to clean and maintain because of the design. The motor part is quiet enough, it's in my bedroom and I don't notice the noise. I can hear the water passing through the filter but it doesn't bother me. The waterfall effect that you can do is also very nice for oxygenating water.Overall, for it's price a good filter.

Dont get half the reviews
When first getting this filter after reading the reviews I don't get why its been giving so much stick.1. To get to the pump you take it out the grid with sucker cups , and turn it and it comes out and you can clean the sponge.2. It doesn't have a flow control switch easily fixed by putting it under water more it slows the flow.3. It does pack a punch, its brilliant. All in all this filter is probably better or as good as my ehiem filter. Got them both running as want water to more filtered. So far I'm really happy. Comes with uk plug, instructions and 4 sucker cups.

Difficult
Filter is quite, very strong and I wouldn't put it in a tank under 20 gallons as its uprooted all my plants and there's no way to turn down the flow. Nothing special about it, only stocked with filter sponge so to be anything but a fancy sponge filter you'd need to add your own media. The major downfall for me was thst it was near impossible to get the sponge off, they advertise thst you can aim the flow in any diffraction but mine moved a cm to the left and is now stuck there and nothing at all will move it, can't even get it off to clean at all. For the price I wouldn't personally purchase again
