Prevents my GSD from being able to scratch his ear
Fairly easy to blow up, took me about 2 minutes with the pump that is included with the box. Nice suede material that is soft around your dogs neck. There's a zip, so you are able to remove the outer material to wash if needed. I find that if I swing the collar around, so that the "Join" is behind his ears, it works a little better as a prevention. My GSD took to it easily, but then again, as you can see from the photo, if he was any more laid back he'd be going backwards. You may need to slowly desensitise the collar to your dog if they are nervous or do not like things going over their heads. My GSD battles chronic ear infections in the same year, currently under veterinary care to hopefully get to the bottom of it. When his ear flares up, he gets pretty miserable and constantly tries to scratch it, to the point he makes it bleed and form scabs, which makes it all ten times more uncomfortable for him. I've tried everything, all to no avail, so decided I would try one of these collars. It works a treat! He can still scratch his muzzle/nose, and he can still lick his man bits and nibble his back paws, so i'm not convinced this would work in a lot of sitations - but the one thing it does stop, is him being able to scratch his ear - wooop!!!!It also makes a brilliant portable pillow, so he's happy. 'Scuse his lip, he was a tired boy and it must have gotten caught up in his front teefies

Much more comfortable than plastic cone collar
My whippet is recovering from rear leg surgery (cruciate) , this inflatable collar is much more comfortable than the plastic cone supplied by the vet, he is more relaxed and able to also us it as a pillow. However, some supervision is still needed as in certain positions ( standing for example) he is able to get to the wound - this will be an issue for long nosed dogs. I am using it when I am with him, and reverting to the cone when he is alone. But I am still very happy with this purchase because he is more relaxed and able to sleep more comfortably, which in itself stops him worrying at the wound.

Withstood punishment from my asbo American Bulldog. HighlyRecommended
I used this for my American Bulldog who breaks regular buster collars in 30 seconds flat!He has a lot of allergies and he scratched around his eye pretty badly. This worked really well because it was firm enough to stop him getting to his injury and comfortable enough to wear for a prolonged period. The cover comes off so you can wash it too.My only advice would be make sure the Velcro bit sits behind the neck to prevent their paws getting in and taking it off and make sure it’s on snuggly enough and well inflated so they can’t get out of it.Believe me my dog really tried and tested this collar. He’s a bit of a beast and he fought to get it off initially but it took it completely.Overall highly recommended

Dog punctured it
Velcro strap easily dislodged by the dog and once off easily punctured, replaced with one with a buckle fastening.

Pump broke first time using it.
XL size - I found it difficult to inflate as 1. There's not much valve to grab on to while you holding the pump and 2. The supplied pump broke literally on the 2nd pump.Luckily my neighbour has a bike pump so used that to inflate it. It was still a 2 person job as one was using the pump and the other holding the valve.Even after all the Messing around it didnt stop my dog (a Labrador) from being able to lick the wound from having his bits done, so went back to the plastic cone. Disappointed as it was a waste of money, but will keep it in case he gets an injury on the front of the body, it might work then.

Doesn't work!
Our Rotti Ronnie had a raw pad and wouldn't stop licking it. We had a lampshade cone for him but with the diameter of the cone being directly linked to the size of the neck it was like a small car barging around the house so I thought one of these would be a good idea instead, plus he would be able to see better and lie down more comfortably. I was a little sceptical as I couldn't see quite how it would stop him licking his wounded paw and I was right - it didn't. As you can see from the photo he still had easy access to his foot when it was on so it will be going back for a refund and we are back to the lampshade alternating with a stylish boot when he goes outside!

Dogs that hate the cone of shame... fear no longer!
Our large dog (38kg) Australian collie was terrified of the massive cone he needed to wear to stop him licking a cut on his ‘elbow’ this was a welcome alternative, it stopped him reaching the wound and allowed him to see around him as well (not to mention much kinder on the legs when he charges around) if you have a dog that hates a cone this is well worth a try. Plus it acts as a comfy head rest when he is laying down!
