Generic 2nd Hard Drive HDD/Ssd Caddy Adapter for Dell Precision M4600 M4700

So it is still a little early to post a review for a product, but so far I'm completely impressed with this item. I was looking at a similar item for more than double the price, and since the boss is paying it really doesn't matter to me the cost (hell I put at 1TB SSD in to the tray). But I like to keep costs down when I can so I picked this one. The item got here in 2 weeks, not the almost one month many China items take when I order them. The tray has a DVD ROM face on it that looks very similar to the actual drive I pulled out (the M4600 has a grayish green finish, but seriously who is looking at the side of this cheap monster desktop replacement).Two complaints so far.1. I believe that this unit should come with the securing strap to screw the unit to the laptop. I would not have used it as I will have to pull the drive and put in the DVD at times, but it is something that people will want, and the new caddy has the holes to mount your bracket from you existing drive your pull. Just unscrew the bracket from the old drive and attach to the new one, but if your doing this, you should be able to figure that out yourself.2. The instructions for installation of the hard drive into the caddy are wrong on the card with the product and sticker on the actual product. There is no retaining latch to lift, just unscrew the set screws and then slide in your drive, screw in the set screws.I did have one screw that did not line up, and I'm not sure what the screws are made of but after two turns on a cross threaded screw the head was completely stripped. If I ever get time I will pull it and find a replacement, and post the length of the screw for anyone that runs into the same issue.

this is a great product! I took my DVD drive out (which I rarely use anyway) and put this in. The thing that is REALLY great about this is the perfect fit and the EXACT match for the outside cover. You can NOT tell that I do NOT have a DVD drive in there. It looks like the original DVD drive is in there. Way to go!!!!

I have been using this Caddy, first in my Dell Precision M4600, and now in my Dell Precision M4800, and it has worked without fail for all of this time. The color is slightly different on the M4800 but not enough for anyone to notice.

Fits my Dell Precision M-4700 laptop perfect and it does come with a faceplate that looks like a CD tray but purely cosmetic. Installed a secondary SSD drive for storage and works perfect. I have this in 2 laptops now. Would recommend.

This caddy is NOT AS PICTURED. There is no black cover where the optical drive door was, and there was no way to mount the removed optical drive door onto this caddy. This means the drive bay is wide open, leaving a hole in the side of the pc. Now I have a modern, fast Samsung SSD drive behind a piece of scotch tape. Not the end of the world, but the picture in the listing is misleading.

Worked perfectly, but I did have to remove the plastic insert to mount my Samsung SSD. Compile time went from 45 minutes on 5400RPM hdd to 14 minutes using the SSD!Activity LED is VERY bright.

Worked great for me on an M4600 Dell. No cover plate. Made my own from an old desktop cover plate. Used through 2 semesters so far and still working great.

Surprised hubby with this for his laptop and he couldn't wait to open it up and install it in his laptop. I works how it's suppose to and have not had any problems. Thank you

Works as advertised.

The media could not be loaded.  The product perfectly fits on my Dell Inspiron 3542.Though the first item delivered was badly damaged , the second item was good in condition.Data transfer speed is decent enough.* place ssd in inbuilt sata and hdd in caddy for mind-blowing speed.Installing was not troublesome its damn easy.Plug and play type.Aluminum material is good , does its job.It's a Chinese product by the way.Packaging was not at all good.The caddy pack was inside the cover, no protection that's why the first product was damaged.The box was stapled and there was no protective film idk why but was present in the first delivery.And I got only three screws.Note to the seller: please check if everything is available before shipping the shipment.Can go for it without any second thought.Best is price range product.

I purchased it for my Del inspiron 15r as it was running slow and I wanted to replace my hdd with ssd. It was easy to install and is working as expected.

Not fitted well in Lenovo IdeaPad 320.
