The Inspector The DePatie / Freleng Collection

My uncle, Jim Ryan, wrote 14 episodes. Sargeant Deux Deux was a character we grew up imitating in our family. I hadn't seen these in years. Really fun cartoons, even if my uncle wasn't one of the writers!

Utterly charming, witty and stylish, the 2-disc collection of all 34 "The Inspector" cartoons which were originally screened in cinemas in the mid to late 1960s are wonderfully inventive and thoroughly entertaining.Each cartoon runs at the snappy pace of just over six minutes (in most cases you may wish they ran a wee bit longer) and are beautifully animated with very funny stories and characters. An added bonus are the clever story titles which deliciously mash French and English e.g. "Reaux, Reaux Your Boat", "Cirrhosis of the Louvre", "Unsafe and Seine", "Napoleon, Blown-Aparte", "Les Miserbots", "Sacre Bleu Cross", "Tour de Farce", "Crow de Guerre", "Carte Blanched", "Bomb Voyage", "Le Pig-Al Patrol".Superb voice characterizations by Pat Harrington Jr. and Paul Frees, stylish background artwork and title layout and excellent music scores (mainly by Walter Greene) with that infectious, unforgettable Henry Mancini theme, all make this Pink Panther inspired series an absolute delight.The Inspector, his Spanish speaking gendarme Deux Deux and the blustery commissioner have not aged at all in this timeless collection.This release also contains two interesting and informative documentaries on the DePatie-Freleng studio and audio commentaries on some of the films.Personally, I am not a huge animation buff but feel very chuffed to have added "The Inspector" to my collection.

I watched these as a kid in the 80s after school. The audio and video are super clean transfers to Bluray. Two discs. I also purchased The Ant and the Ardvark too.

I've been watching The Inspector since I was a kid. I get a kick out of The Inspector & Sgt. Deaux-Deaux. I also like the Commissioner, The Inspector's hot-tempered superior. The Inspector was part of the Pink Panther cartoon series, to which i'm also a fan of. Thanks again Amazon!

This is an excellent classic cartoon from years ago you can show it to kids it has some humor and is enjoyable

BROUGHT BACK HAPPY MEMORIES OF MY CHILDHOOD,STILL ENJOYABLE TO THIS DAY.WELL WORTH THE MONEY,ABSOLUTE CLASSIC.

This dvd set features the entire series, unlike the previous "Best of" set. It's incredible, and other than the close-2nd "Best of Dudley Do-Right" dvd set, it's by far the best cartoon series I've ever seen! This isn't a cartoon where kids love it but adults will be bored to tears, it's hilarious no matter what age you are. Lots of slapstick comedy, and the episodes with The Inspector's dim-witted sidekick Deux Deux are the best. I HIGHLY recommend this dvd set!!!

Every time I hear the theme to "A Shot in the Dark" I think of the Inspector, still as funny now as when i first saw them

I already own the Pink Panther series on DVD but it does not include The Inspector episodes, which I actually purchased, so I could view them. So glad this came out, and snapped it up quickly!
