Janet and Allan Ahlberg were to the 80s what Julia Donaldson is to this decade. When I was small my parents fed me a diet of them and I loved pretty much everything they did. Now I'm returning the favour to my one-year old. Funnybones (or "Dark Dark" as my daughter calls it) is often her first choice for a bedtime story. It's probably better for older kids if I'm honest, but friendly skeletons, dogs with horrific injuries (don't worry), ghosts, songs, parrots and an instantly compelling world add up to a great little story. As good now as it was for me 30 years ago.

A great book - one I remember from my childhood and it is lovely to buy it again to read with my own children. We love the story about the skeletons.However, the info on Amazon is not correct - I purchased in early Feb 2021, and received the normal paperback version, not the special glow in the dark version. I contacted Amazon who gave me a refund and said they would correct the info on the page, but it has not yet been updated (now mid Feb).

I bought this for my daughter over thirty years ago and have now purchased it for her two year old twin boys. It’s a bit old for them yet so I’d put it to one side; but they enjoyed Mummy reading it to them when she spotted it a couple of days ago Mum certainly enjoyed reading it again after all this time. I seem to remember that we also had it on audio tape back then and used to listen to it in the car..

Just as I remember it 32 years ago ! It’s lovely to see this again brings back so many lovely memories of being at first school and my teacher miss Clarke reading it to us all who I don’t think is around anymore she was very old at the time !My daughter is 3 and she absolutly loves it her fav is the skeleton dog lol she finds him funny! Love it so much and thrilled best £5 I’ve ever spent!!! 😊😁😇

Bought for granddaughter for Christmas I'm sure she will love it as her mother did at the same age great for learning about human body and as it's such fun also makes things like skeletons not scary
