Charlie Changes Into a Chicken

Engaging story
My children has already read it a few times. Engaging storytelling and an interesting plot. I liked the friendship dynamic of Charlie’s fried group who helped him figure out why Charlie keeps turning into an animal.

product review
I am not sure if the book sent to us was a new piece or it might have been because of the shipping because the book was kind of stained and also the cover page was kind of bent, but overall the product was good.thanks

Brilliant and hilarious with an important message...
This book has become a firm family favourite. My boys (ages 10 & 7) have chuckled away to themselves and keep rereading their favourite bits (there are many) and chortling away again, it’s lovely to hear a book bringing so much joy! The illustrations are excellent and really complete the brilliantness (is this a word?) of this book.On a more serious note, this book has also opened very important discussions about anxiety, and things that might make us feel anxious, how this is normal and ok and how we can talk to each other and help each other feel better. The value of this message can’t be over estimated especially when you think about how mental health can affect us all, particularly young men. We’ve had great chats about sharing our anxieties and this can only be a good thing, much better than bottling it up.We can’t wait for the next instalment and we can’t recommend this book to everyone!

An awesome read
Bought this for my niece. I buy a lot of books for my niece. But I read them first. Don’t want anything slipping through the net that she’ll judge me for later. The game is simple, the rules strict -1. Be FUN - got to admit, its not often I find myself crushing on a pigeon for the swagger and French accent. Or laughing out loud on a train.2. SURPRISE me - Copeland handles serious issues with a light touch. It’s stuff that would have spoken to me when I was eight.3. Create at least one KICK-ASS GIRL - Flora smashes into scenes, steals them without blinking and bosses it. I want my niece to be like Flora. Honestly, I want to be more Flora. The whole read left me asking one question: if I was to change into an animal, what would it be? I’ve landed on magpie. This book even glitters. Sadly for my niece, this one’s not leaving my bookshelf. In summary: definitely worth stealing. Five stars.(Don’t be like me. Be better. Go wild. Buy two copies...)

A brilliant, funny, original read from start to finish
My seven-year-old daughter was attracted by the sparkly front cover and red pages, but after hearing her laugh her way through the book I had to read it for myself. From the start, the author draw’s you into Charlie’s world, his family, friends and worries. This triggers off Charlies uniquely amazing, special skill of turning into animals. It’s down to Charlie with the help of his friends to figure out his power and how to control it. The book cover’s many themes during Charlie’s eventful journey including anxiety, mindfulness and most importantly friendship. The story is told with an endless supply of humour in a personally engaging manner. I especially loved the footnotes with the true and sometimes not so true facts, as well as the readers letters to the author. Reading some of the other reviews, I can see there will be a sequel, which my daughter and I can’t wait to read. Sometimes you can judge a book by its cover!

Children absolutely loved it
I bought this book following Sam Copeland coming to do a talk for the children at a school I was placed at. First of all, let me just say, Sam Copeland himself is what won me over. He was a joy to be around and clearly loved what he does. But the second biggest reason I bought it was for the underlying story about anxiety - it is a great way to talk about such a difficult subject and it definitely keeps it light as the children were howling as they were reading the books to themselves.

Absolutely superb!
This book is absolutely fantastic! Our 6 year old was engrossed from start to finish. It's hilarious, clever, and wonderfully put together. It reaches kids in a subtle way about dealing with stress and anxiety, the importance of good friendships and how to deal with things life throws at you. I couldn't recommend this book more. It's just perfect and I expect it will be a best seller for a very long time, we can't wait for book two!
