Vitakraft Drops Hamster Treat with Strawberry Flavor 5.3 oz.

Marzipan, the cutest mouse ever, loves these treats! The flavor must be pleasing to his selective palate, cause he is picky! The portion size of the bag is a good amount compared to the price, making it a good value. And the treats last for a while, staying fresh in their pouch.

I have boughten a load of treats for my albino Syrian Teddy Bear hamster (Kyubey) & my black & white Fancy mouse (looks like a tiny baby skunk!) & they both seem to love the yogurt drops/chips the best! I’ve boughten about 6 different types of Timothy Hay & biscuits, about 4 Slims, 3 fruit sticks, & 2 rice crisp/critter pops, & Yogies so far to see what they would like. Yet, they can’t get enough of their yogurt chips! I started with the original carrot Yogies when I first got my two babies, & that seemed to be their favorite. So I decided to look for other yogurt drops/chips! I haven’t heard of Vitakraft before, so I only bought one bag to try. I can say I’ll definitely be buying the rest of the flavors they have, because these are definitely my babies’ favorite out of all of the treats I’ve given them so far! This is a video I made for a friend to show how much my little one loves them!(: including her little party trick at the end- haha! I’ve only given her about 3 or 4 of them since I bought them, (don’t want to give them too many treats at once) but every time, she either won’t let go of it until she puts it into her cheek, or puts it into her cheek right away to keep safe! Can’t wait to see how they will like the other flavors I’ll be getting them! I do have to say, these do seem to be their favorite most likely because of the sugar content. So please, don’t feed your babies too many of these! I only give them one every time I change out their food dishes. I would say one or two a week for a big hamster such as my Teddy Bear, but one a week for smaller critters! Maybe even half, considering they’re a decent size! Heck, they smell so good that even I wanted to eat one, lol! There’s at least 50 of them in here, so they will last a long while! (Edit: ive boughten other yogurt-based treats & they all have came melted EXCEPT for the Vitakraft ones!)

These are my hamster’s favorite treat. They are a good price. They seem like they are good quality and have good ingredients.

They loved it and I’m glad the price is so cheap that way I’m not too upset over it arriving melted. That’s my only real issue with it but that’s probably cause it was hot. I just cooled it down and cut them up in smaller pieces for the hamsters. They love them so much!! They go crazy when I give them some, I swear they could smell it the moment I open the bag. I’m not sure about the size since it came melted but the texture is very nice, the color is so pretty and for the price, the size it comes with is great! So far so good and I’ll probably order more since my hamsters love them.

As someone else mentioned, if you order these (like any baking chip) in the summer then be prepared for most of the drops to be melted together. No worries for me since the drops are so large I had to break them into pieces to be small enough for my robo dwarf hamsters anyway. These drops have a sticky powdery quality to them which sticks to my fingers, which leads my hammies to smell my fingers and think "food! NOM!" It's a big downside for me because I used these as special taming treats when I first got my roborovski hamster sisters, to get the robos to come into my hand and learn to trust me, so it was really difficult to keep the treat residue off the rest of my hands so the girls wouldn't nibble on me. These are basically sugar & fat so they're really not great health wise, but I do think these are good as an occasional treat or as that special taming treat and recommend them for those reasons. Hey, I can't eat a blah fortified diet with no treats, and I personally can't expect my hamsters to, either. Since my robos are tame now and one of the sisters is getting a bit chubby (from me mistakenly giving her unrestricted access to millet sprays, she loves millet too much), I only use these yogurt drops to rub onto wood chew toys that the hammies aren't otherwise interested in - that sticky powdery residue of these drops comes in handy for this use. SIDENOTE: I also have the Kaytee Fiesta strawberry yogurt chips which the robos like just as well, and also leaves a residue on my yummy fingers, but the Kaytee chips have two kinds of partially hydrogenated oils in it as the 3rd & 4th ingredients in the list. Partially hydrogenated oils have trans fats which in humans makes our blood platelets sticky, leading to heart disease - no amount of trans fat is healthy for us humans. I don't know if it has the same effect in hamsters but I'd rather not find out. These Vitakraft drops use palm oil so they do not have trans fats, and I do prefer these Vitakraft drops for that reason.

My rats get a lot of different food but this is a FAVORITE! I use this to get them back in their cage when playtime is over. They can’t resist. I even wrap the treat in paper so they have to unwrap it and get it out. Now every time my one rat hears paper, she thinks it’s snack time. Side note- they love live beetles too.

I always get these for my rats, they love them.
