I live in a place that is generally regarded as quite safe. However in nearby neighborhoods there have been reports in the news about license plates being stolen to attach to a different automobile that the thieves then fill up with gasoline and drive off knowing that it is your license plate that will be captured on gas station cameras. These license plate screws are indeed easy to install but require a special tool remove. Keeping your license plate secure will help avoid this kind of license plate theft and who knows what other nefarious purposes people would steal license plates in order to accomplish stealing things.

The existing screws holding my license plates had Phillips heads, which would be easy to remove for any thief armed with the usual Phillips and flat head screwdrivers. Chances of a thief also having a tool to remove the security screws are much smaller, although not necessarily zero. I have notched the bezel holding my back license plate to expose the area where the yearly registration tag is placed. That allows me to consider the setup semi-permanent. I plan to stick some caulk over the screw head to obscure what is underneath. A thief would likely be already deterred by the cap over the screws. It takes an extra step to pry that off. But even if they take the time to do that, the caulk would be a real put off. Why waste more time on this license plate. Try something easier. What if I have to take off the plates? I have plenty of to extract the caulk, unlike the thief who is in a hurry.One more thing. I measured my old screw diameter to see how it stacks up against the specs for these screws. They were essentially identical. The additional concern is that the new screw and the old screw did not have the same thread pitch. I was relieved to find that the pitch is exactly the same. That means putting in the new screws will not result in new threads being cut, weaking the nylon insert. There were new inserts in the package, but it is not obvious that exchanging new ones for the existing ones would be easy to do. I am also very familiar with the difference between 316 and 304, having used both in my many years of employment. 316 is much better for this application.In summary, these security screws are fantastic for the price. I recommend them highly.

If you’ve ever had plates stolen, this product provides an extra layer of security. Without the key for the screws, it is difficult for someone to remove them. Also, if your pre-existing holes are not big enough for the included fasteners, there is some drilling involved. Other than that, great product.

The screws have an 8-star prong which makes it unique and harder to remove using Phillips screwdrivers. The covers however did not work for our car (Toyota Rav 4 Plug-in Hybrid). The screws alone and the Allen wrench that came along with it were worth it, though.

The concept and the execution are both well done.This will discourage an opportunistic thief but not deter an experienced or determined one.That's about as good as you will get.The security screws require a hollow point Torx wrench, which anyone can get if they want one, but no one has these just laying around.The brilliant piece is adding a blank cover over each screw so that, approaching it, you don't know what you may have to contend with.

I bought this to help me unscrew anti-theft screws I already had on my license plate. Turns out this is just a bit too big and the shape is awkward to only fit the screws provided. Nice if you need something that only fits itself but not useful as a tool..

Easy install, stainless steel screws...nice, easy to swap the rusty bolts.As long as you keep your expectations in line with reality, these bolts do very well to make stealing the license plate a little more difficult. Time will tell how good the stainless steel will keep rust away.Well worth the price for me though.

I bought these as my plates have been stolen in the past. They worked well on the front plate that is basically drilled directly into the bumper. The back plate is a different story. The back of my 2017 Accord has pre-drilled holes (oval shaped), which work with slider clips over them. The factory bolts screw into those slider clips. They do not fit these security bolts. Because of this, this kit includes plastic “grommets” which push into the pre-drilled holes. Unfortunately, these grommets do not fit the holes (too big, even with a hard push). So, now I will need to find some 1/4” grommets that fit both the holes and the security bolts. So far, this has not been an easy task. I really do not want to drill larger holes, but this may be the only way forward. While I do like the piece of mind these security bolts offer, I do wonder if a thief would just carry one of the included security tools around anyways.

its now seem to be a problem in Ontario with license plate theft i park in covered car port where the car next to me had her plates stolen , expensive to replace for no reason . so i bought these anti theft screws went on in seconds like they have the tamper resistant screws , you still can buy that tool anywhere butbut what thief is going to take that time to figure out what size it is .i also like there stainless steel screws with protective caps of which i put a bit of silicone on them to secure them . makes its harder to steel if cannot remove the cap in seconds . price is excellent .protect your plates or pay the $120.00 plus to replace them plus your ownership .

esta muy completo aunque no tiene instrucciones, las instrucciones están en una de las imágenes en la descripción del producto, si solo utilizas 2 tornillos por placa (algunos autos no tienen los 4 orificios) puedes utilizar el kit para dos vehículos.

Lucen muy bien, con la colocación o el ajuste termina por rayar la pintura del acabado mate, hay que hacerlo con cuidado. Es una buena manera de evitar el robo rápido, pero si se quitan con facilidad con la llave adecuada. Una muy buena compra. Para cambiar por los de base.
