An improvement over the existing design
Other than a bigger wind profile the new design is better. It is easier to install and lets you access your drops while staying comfortably in the protection of the Barr Mitts.

Doesn't seem to work with flared drop bars.
I love my mtb mitts and have been a fan for a long time, so I got these dual position drop bar mitts for my gravel bike. Unfortunately, my flared bars and GRX levers don't seem to work with this model. I'll probably keep these and put them on my commuter bike instead.

Bar Mitts Handlebar Mittens
I suffer from cold/frozen hands. I use battery-heated gloves and they're still cold. A friend who swears by these encouraged me to buy them. He also uses battery-heated gloves and said they work like a charm. I am a great bike handler and have been riding for over 35 years. I found it difficult to use the brakes, especially on the brake hoods. Fortunately I was at the end of my driveway, but it was a definite panic stop. Didn't even attempt to shift gears. Can't imagine riding in a group and being able to use them safely. I'm very disappointed; they're just not for me.

Better than almost any glove - a game changer
After escalating my glove purchases in search of warm hands I finally gave in and tried these. I've been hesitant to try any kind of pogies since most limit you to the hoods - and well, they're ugly, but saw these were available and jumped on in desperation. I'm using them on GRX and a lightly flared bar (Easton EC70AX.) They fit fine and don't really compromise handling too much when riding on single track. Being able to grab the drops is key to this - I still can't see using the single position version on rough off road adventures. I compared the opening of the double position to the single position bar mitts (in size M) and it's about a inch bigger with the double, so air ingress should be about the same. So, they make your bike ugly. Very ugly. Your riding friends may make fun of you - but you will be laughing back every time they juggle gloves just to get some food out or need to stop at the bottom of a climb when their hands freeze to blocks. The benefits are well worth any grief if you rate getting a hard ride in over staying inside over vanity. I ride a lot in the mountains, and on the climbs, my hands get slightly sweaty even when it's bitterly cold, and on the descents, the wind cuts through every glove I've tried when it's near freezing, including beefy ski gloves that regularly keep me toasty at -5 C when skiing. With the bar mitts, now I wear minimal full-fingered gloves and never get cold during 5 hour rides at -2 C on the same terrain - and also get the benefit of being able to use my touch screen bike computer and eat with ease. For the money, I don't think there's a better way to keep your hands warm in the winter. Combined with good winter shoes, I no longer hesitate to ride in sub-freezing conditions to get my 'long' days in. This is one of the cheapest products you can buy to radically transform how you view cold weather riding.

Get these before you try expensive gloves
Probably the best winter cycling purchase I've made. Despite running hot, my hands get freezing in the 30s even with castelli estremo AND liner gloves. With these bar mitts my hands stay warm and i dont feel fat fingered.

Like it's about 15F warmer weather for your hands
Pros:* Took my lowest comfortable riding temperature from 30F to 12F* Super easy to install, I move them between bikes in about 30 sec* Do not cause problems with any of the following:-Shifting-Breaking-Moving hands out or back in quickly and reliablyI just wish I had these all my life, SO much better with them!!!

Great idea, great performance - minor issue stops 5 stars
Very happy with my bar mitts which fit on my road bike well and which I've used once for a sub zero celsius ride. My hands were warm throughout, which is a miracle as I suffer badly from cold hands to the point where even the thickest cycling gloves (Castelli Estremo) do not help at all. The bar mitts keep the wind off your hands and, with gloves beneath, my hands were toasty. With this model (the dual position), I happily switched between my hoods, drops and could just about hold the top bar for climbing. The mitts did not impinge on the brakes or the gear levers (I'm on DI2) and had no impact on ability to control the bike. I rode on a very windy day and did feel the mitts catch in the wind on a couple of occasions causing a bit of a wobble, but I was surprised to see when I checked my computer that they had no impact on my speed etc. They seem well made - a thickish neoprene style fabric - and are very easy to fit. It takes a minute or so to pop each one on or take it off. I can imagine leaving them on for the early winter morning start then removing them as the temperature rises and rolling them up for the rest of the ride.Bar Mitts are a bit like marmite. Roadies you are younger, more style conscious or who have warm hands think they are the ugliest things ever imagined by man. But those who struggle with the cold or who like to tour/ride for longer all year round frankly don't care about the views of others - the only thing that matters is warmth and comfort and these deliver in spades. My only criticism is the reflective strip at the front of the mitt (which seems like a good idea from a safety perspective) has come off after one ride. That's a bit disappointing. For that reason and that alone, I will give this excellent product which is perfect for people like me who suffer from poor circulation or who have Reynauds, four stars rather than five. I would definitely buy again though.
