Poor Quality Recording and Overall Disappointment
I won’t go into great detail about everything that is wrong with this product, just the highlights I agree with one other reviewer, this product is a great idea. A single unit that can convert AV media between 5 different media/interface types and easy to operate. Brilliant. However, poor video quality, record time limitations, and slow/unpredictable burning are all complaints that I experienced as well. One problem I did not see in the reviews that I experienced was the video is delayed from the audio. You hear people talk 2-4 seconds before their lips move. I suppose that would be acceptable if I was converting old Godzilla movies from tape to DVD, but it is turning precious camcorder video of my kids growing up into a very disappointing digital recording. The same audio to video delay was experienced recording from AV to a USB thumb drive. This was a gift from my wife who likes to buy Christmas gifts in August and I didn’t get a chance to try it out until mid January, so HSN said sorry Charlie due to the length of time since the purchase and referred us to the manufacturer. I haven’t tried contacting them yet, but I am certain that will be like watching an old Godzilla movie as well.Don’t throw your money away like we did. Stay away!

good luck.
I just recently bought a Protis Media Recorder and I am ready to send it back. I began by using a 90 minute VHS tape. I used all the requisite key strokes and inserted a 120 minute DVD-R. I started the VHS player a started the recording process. The recording seemed to go ok when at the 60 minute mark the message: “Burning, wait for the CD to pop up” before the VHS tape had run its course. The entire VHS data was not captured onto the DVD. Tried multiple times to record a 120 minute tape. No luck. I won't go near this product. Technical support leaves a lot to be desired.good luck.

Unit is a WASTE of MONEY, and Time!
I bought this brand new from an individual for $50...then I read the reviews as I was using it to record a cassette to DVD. This unit looks very similar to my 2 Sony DVD-Direct Recorders, but after using it once, I can tell you .,.. STAY AWAY! The unit does not record on the fly, then after it records, it ejects the DVD and considers it done ... however, it does not finalize the DVD, so it cannot play on any other DVD player. I might be able to use it to copy some DVDs to other media, but I needed it to perform as advertised, which it clearly does not ... and that leaves me feeling like I just wasted my money. Live and Learn, I guess.SAD!!!
