Practical Religion (Unabridged)

Explained a lot. Deals with heavy topics. Clearly stated with no complications. Great book to discuss. A great must read.

J.C. Ryle is one of the great Christian authors of the 19th century. He challenged the believers of his time to go beyond a superficial faith. In many ways, his words apply directly to our day and age. The "evangelical bishop" is always worth reading, and this is one of his best works. The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is that the book's size is a bit large. I would have rather had a smaller book that was thicker than this larger thinner size.

Wow, what a good read. Highly recommend this book. I ordered this book for others and several have commented on how good it is. I am hoping to buy more to send to some others.

(This is the “Being Plain Papers” version, 8.5x11). Excellent content and excellent price, but WOW what is going on with the layout? I don’t know if this is supposed to mimic some old style or the original writings or whatever but it’s so weird they have the two columns on the single page with no margin between it at all. Also, I was not expecting the size of the book which is a lot larger than I expected (make sure to check the product details and image for reference).Hope this helps someone. I’ll be ordering the other physical version of the book.

In this book, J C Ryle speaks plainly and simply about things that will help Christians in their spiritual growth. Once he selects a topic, he covers it fully, leaving no stone unturned. You don't need a PhD to read any of J C Ryle's writings, and the practical advice he gives is priceless! Much of his instruction puts me in mind of a wise grandfather giving sharing his knowledge and experience with an eagerly listening grandchild. One of my very favorite authors. Nothing is sugar-coated, but is rather made plain for the benefit of the reader. Highly recommended.

This printing with the blue/gray cover and collage of photos on it isbn 9781479245758 does contain a table of contents with page numbers. The typeface is of typical size and style for this day and age and is easy to read.

After to long walking in a daze after the loss of my daughter God graciously used Ryle to rekindle my heart and remind me there is so much more....A wonderful book to refocus and to remind Christ is all. My 'new' favorite author.

What a blessing this book is, full of truth and helpful insights. I thoroughly recommend it to all who wish to deepen their understanding of scripture.
