La Gamme Heller-Musee (Models and Figures) (French Edition)

Like many American modelers, I have built many of the kits in this line; at times they were the best available of their aircraft type, and some still are today. But just because it is a French line does not excuse the publisher's refusal to do an English language edition, since they do just that for other books in the same series, such as those covering ESCI, Matchbox and Revell. I have been in contact with the author, and even HE has not been able to persuade H&C to do an English edition. Perhaps since the publisher is under new ownership, that can now be changed, which would also give the author to update the book to match the newer books in the same series.

The language here is not English, as amazon will have us believe. It is French. That having been said, you don't need to read French to enjoy this publication. It is full of illustrations of Heller's kits of French aircraft of the 1930s and early 40s; lots and lots of box tops, actual kits built and unbuilt, quite a few scale plans, assembly instructions, decals etc. Pure nostalgia for anyone who has ever built a Heller kit or who still have such kits tucked away somewhere waiting to be built! I think I'll have to dig out a couple of mine...

Interesting book

Un livre richement illustre,pour tout passionné par l'histoire du modélisme.

Ce petit livre est en réalité, une partie d'un autre livre relatant l'histoire de la maison Heller. Le texte, cependant, est nouveau. Le style est assez rude et le texte aurait mérité d'être relu plus attentivement... Une erreur de date s'est glissée dans l'ouvrage alors que le "livre-mère" ne la comporte pas...Cependant, cette histoire de la série "Heller-Musée" est fort instructive et les illustrations amplifieront le plaisir du nostalgique comme elles renseigneront très bien ceux qui découvriront la marque Heller et ces maquettes qui se voulaient être un hommage à l'aviation française, en premier lieu, au début de la Seconde Guerre mondiale..
