Nicely presented
Thank you, Dr. Hunter, for proposing a name for 'Bigfoot' as the creature is known in the Northwest United States. Perhaps the timing is better suited now than it was for Grover Krantz who twice proposed a name to the scientific community but was unsuccessful in getting the name accepted and recorded as official. Having an official name will provide a beginning for other namings such as 'Sasquatch' should it ever be determined that the two are different or the same. I think it admirable that credit is given to Robert Gimlin and Roger Patterson since their film is the basis for the research. Additionally, Kryptopithecus as a genus name is appropriate since any of the 'Bigfoot/Sasquatch' creatures could be viewed as 'hidden ape'. I also appreciate that your book indicates the additional resources used as a basis, both pro and con, for discerning 'Bigfoot' characteristics as ape and/or human. Perhaps one day (wherever they are located) all the mysterious creatures who resemble 'Bigfoot' will have a proper scientific name.

First off, I think the binomial nomenclature has the Latin a bit wonky. Also, Grover Krantz did all this back in the 1960s: Gigantopithecus canadensis
