Used to couple to Cat 5e cables in the LAN closet in the house
When I bought my house it came with with structured wiring in one of the closets where every room home runs to the closet. The Internet in the house goes from the closet to the Den and through both a wall to the next room for the other 2 computers and the LAN closet where I coupled it with the cable to the family room to extend the wired Internet to the Home Theater PC in the Family Room.I could have gone with wireless, but prefer wired interfaces for their safety and speed. This item worked great with no noticeable loss of signal. One day I will replace the coupler with a router as the needs in the house change but the coupler was the right solution for now

Extended CAT5e
My home came pre-wired with CAT5e and all of the lines terminated in the center of the attic. I'm not sure what the installer was thinking but rather than running all new Ethernet, I decided to purchase these couplers. From what I can tell, they work fine and if there is signal loss, it's very low. Once I finish my LAN closet in a few months I'll post back with some test results. For now, they seem to work as expected.

3 years later, still working fine.
I have used this for three years and it still works great.I've joined two Cat 5's together with this unit, one of which was 120 ft. long and there was very little degradation of signal.I've stepped on it several times and it still works. It will split in half at the seam which you can see faintly in the product picture. If it does, it will snap back into place just fine.

Pretty simple really.. it works.
Worked as it should.

About what you would expect.
Works as you would expect. We used it to connect 2 ethernet cords to extend the length. It does not appear to lose any strength of clarity or signal between lines. We use it to connect from a powerline adapter to our Xbox, which was almost 15 feet away.

Good Connectors
I bought 5 of these, and have tested 3. They work fine -- but I have a quirk. With my cables the connector clicks in, but then rocks back out very slightly -- this does not appear to affect performance at all.

Bad experience, poor quality.
I ordered one of these to extend a mic cable on a ham radio. Does not secure firmly and maintain contacts on one side. If I apply pressure on the connector, it works. Visibly, the jack/ contacts look fine. I assume that there is a loose connection or short inside of the coupler. Poor quality..
