A very good historical novel
A very good historical novel. It was an eye-opener into some of the Native American ways of trying to get the white men to leave their land.

Good Story
Generally well told. However, extremely verbose. A paragraph where a sentence or two would suffice. Descriptions became redundant and boring.

Great
Takes one back and into what Colter must have experienced! Great read

Thank you Stephen Gough.
An interesting view of what John Colter endured in his escape from the fierce Piegan Blackfoot warriors. Great reading and living near the Three Forks area renewed interest in geographic areas that are the back drop of this story.

an adventure story, not a psychological study
It has been said to be a deep psychological study of what manner of man Colter was to return time and again to hostile Indian territory. Told from his point of view, his psychology is too shallow. Nevertheless it is a decent adventure story about his violent encounters with Indians, and I enjoyed it for that.

Okay
The author wrote this book in first person, which I did not care for. Chapters 5-8 are what the title Colter's Run refers to - this was quite good.

Determination and sheer guts.
Excellent book well written and full of facts of nature. This is what special forces require just the absolute determination not to be beaten by anything.

Good story, but...
my Kindle freezes up at 40% each time. If I bookmark the page, it only returns, after restart, to a previous page and I have to find my last read page again! There onnly 3 stars

Just a novel,just surmise.
This book is written in the first person as in "I sighed and smiled "etc.So it is fact a novel,as these are not atual facts about John Colter. It was not mentioned in the product information that this is fictional and as my husband only reads non fiction,it was a total waste of money. What makes it worse is that it was a birthday present for him and delivery was so very slow it missed his birthday by 11 days, even though ordered in good time.
