Expository Thoughts on the Gospel of John [Annotated, Updated]: A Commentary

This is the first book of J.C. Ryle I've read. It is rich with biblical truth and life lessons. Highly recommend!

The questions in this guide were of great importance to help me understand and apply the truths to my journey. I read it slowly so I could absorb it more completely. An intensive study & exposition on the gospel of John, line upon line. A long read but worth the time as it brings about illumination on the gospel

I didn't consider this very much a commentary. I would consider it more in exposition with his thoughts. He has a great way with words and though he is direct he is encouraging. This would be a great daily devotional read and if you're preaching or teaching he will inspire many thoughts for you to use in your messages yourself. If you're not teaching others you will still enjoy reading it for yourself and it will be an encouragement to your own personal daily life.

I bought this book months ago and have now finished it yet because I must read it slowly. I've never had a better study of this profound gospel, and I have learned much from it. The writing is comfortable for me because I'm not a Bible scholar, just a Bible reader who wants to know more for better understanding. This book does much to supply those answers.

I don't think I have read any books with more insight and constant devotional depth in application as Ryle's writings. This commentary on John is exactly that, a very helpful companion for reading and studying the Gospel of John.

A great exposition on John's gospel. Written in the 19th century, it speaks to today. Well-written and thoughtful. J.C. Ryle is a master of the written word.This Kindle offering is free, which makes it even more appealing and accessible to every Prime member. After downloading, go immediately to the end of the first chapter. There it tells how you can download the audio. Great way to work your way through this wonderful book.

Great Read. John is a great book to read with expository thoughts. I questioned the part where he states you can lose your salavation.

Good if yu spend time reading the Word it will be light for your feet

I love his interpretation and explanation.Highly recommend this book for your spiritual life and sermon prep.

Whether a new Christian or been one a number of years.For upbuilding and bring back to mind. Jesus understands what ever may befall us.

Not finished reading book as I use it as a daily reading source but so far, (about half way) I am finding it readable, enjoyable and thought provoking in a good positive sense. Makes me think and helps me dwell on each individual chapter. Worthwhile.
